For a grain whisky, it's quite well-rounded overall; I don't even detect the often telltale glue note on the nose. Only the slightly tingling sharpness towards the end detracts a little from the enjoyment. To me, it has a touch of virgin oak – and this is perhaps due to the seasoned sherry casks? Perhaps refill casks would have been a better choice here as well? Considering the low price, however, this is all nitpicking at a very high level. We have a very drinkable grain whisky here with minor flaws and without any claim to excessive complexity. But it delivers what it's supposed to.

Нос	85	Initially, surprisingly fresh citrus fruits. Garden herbs and cream cheese with horseradish. Sweet like those little Italian cookies flavored with amaretto, yet there's also something of unbaked cookie dough, slightly yeasty. Perhaps some dark, red fruit. The bourbon, however, clearly dominates and imparts a grainy maltiness. Unusual, but interesting on the nose.
Вкус	83	Sweet and slightly oily. Caramelized sugar and cookies. Dark red fruits, already slightly fermented. A slightly tingling spiciness, a touch of ginger heat (or is it horseradish again, lightly tingling on the tongue?), which raises suspicions.
Финиш	86	Honey-sweet, malty, smooth and buttery, with deep, dark red fruit notes. A wonderful blend. Underpinned by a lovely Christmas spice mix, perfect for a Feuerzangenbowle (mulled wine with a flaming sugar cone). A slight tingle lingers on the finish, but it's not at all unpleasant.

It retains its natural character and a particularly smooth texture. The nose reveals notes of vanilla, caramel, green walnut and light fruits. On the palate, it is creamy and balanced with notes of caramel, honey, cereals and fine oak spices. The long, smooth, rum-like finish complements the coconut, harmoniously blending this elegant and approachable grain whisky.

I'm pretty sure the bourbon casks were significantly older than the sherry casks. It contains wonderfully creamy notes of cookie dough, which are so typical of old refill bourbon casks. Absolutely delicious. The price is unbeatable.

Нос	86	Sweet and mellow, there is indeed sherry influence here, but also cream and vanilla. So a decent mix of these casks without getting overwhelmed by one or another. After a while the toffee shows up more and becomes the most dominant smell. Yet very decent p/q on the nose.
Вкус	85	Sweet, smooth and sil arrival. Again there are red berries, sweet raisin and some fig. But there are also butterscotch cookies, caramel sweets and some cothedcream. There is not much depth in the flavour, but overall quite decent.
Финиш	87	medium-long lenght. There is a decent devellopment from fruitness to sweet vanilla to wood notes. I enjoy it quite a bit.

Vanilla, toffee, pastry, milk chocolate, dried fruits, caramel, oak spices. Medium finish and the 46% abv is integrated decently. Very good balance between the refill Bourbon barrels, fresh Sherry hogsheads and the grain. Accesible and solid rounded typical North British that shows why it's the preferred base spirit of many blends. It offers exceptional price performance ratio and if value is taken into account it scores a higher grade.
