Picked up a bottle laregly based on PST's reputation - it's perfectly pleasant, but no more exciting than a JW Black or a Grouse. Something to drink whilst doing the ironing or watching the cricket.
Enjoyable, well-balanced, and certainly humble. Fresh and clean, an excellent choice in the Summer and incidentally have found it pairs well with fudge.

| Нос | 85 | Vanilla, pears, cotton candy sweetness, sweet cream. Kombucha. A bit of a stale grainy element and a touch metallic. |
| Вкус | 83 | Medium body. Soft, sweet, approachable, turning bitter. Pears and apples, covered in sweet cream. Sweet barley porridge. |
| Финиш | 82 | Lovely sweet/bitter combo, a bit astringent, not terribly long, a little orange sherbet and the sweet cream coming back again. Why is the last dram of a bottle often so good?! |
Very solid blend, quality ingredients.

This is a lot of fun and especially for the price. The texdture is somewhat oily and creamy and you can detect some of that typical grain character, which is very pleasant. Nose burnt orange and honey, lemon tea, Taste nose returns with a slight menthol added to it. a somewhat creamy texture. malted barley is very present finish grain character shines through, some spice, burnt orange peel

Tasting Notes: N – Pear drops and pastis, white grapes, hops, galia melon, toffee popcorn, fresh parsley, hay bales, bay leaf, honeycomb (brittle), flumps, white miso paste, and nightshade (tomato plant). P – Toffee brittle, caramelised malted barley, almond nougat, strawberry, wild herbs, orange marmalade, lemon cough sweets, some oak spice, hints of cloves, charred peaches, F – Orange bitters, clove oil, ginger root and a gentle salinity
The nose was fresh, light and fruity on the day we opened the bottle. It turns to be more grainy and savory after a week. Medium body. Fresh green apple, barley sugar on the palate. The finish is not long but smooth. More vanilla & brioche. Overall it's easy drinking & enjoyable, good for daily dram.

This is a just alright dram. Not bad but at the same time it feels like a quite young and uninteresting spirit.
A tasteful, simple but effective blend. Grain forward but not lacking in character. I could have asked for a bit more fullness and complexity on the palate but other than that everything is on point. The Campervan SRV5 ratio is dosed very well; it adds enough complexity without being overwhelming. A casual and nice whisky! Price performance: Medium-Good. Would I buy it again?: I might not be looking for another bottle, but if I had never bought it before, I would be convinced to split it with a friend after trying it.

| Нос | 86 | Lots of coconut, light cocoa powder. Vanilla right behind. Maybe a fresh side like eucalyptus, like lime peel. Green fruits; pear and maybe green apple. A pinch of sulphur and funk. Full green grapes. Light iodine and a very very thin ash or smoky side. Hops from SRV5 are present. Although the grain ratio is high, there is no graininess that lacks complexity. Aged Strathclyde may have an influence in this sense. Honey shortbread in the background. Light cumin and curry, fennel seeds. Light toffee and caramel. Shortbread. Cooked stonefruit (apricot and peach). Umami Miso like side. Complex enough. Not a particularly dominant, intense nose. |
| Вкус | 84 | Honey lemon throat lozenges, lots of spices; the same spices: cumin, fennel seed, curry. Medium sweetness, honey and caramel. Light herbality in the back. A touch of anethole, menthol. Maybe thyme. Feels a little watered down and has a low body. Same light smoke. Especially as it opens up, honeycomb and florality. Black pepper, light clove over time. A little less complex on the palate than on the nose. |
| Финиш | 86 | Creamy, honeyed, vanilla, soft, rounded and slightly charred. Almost a hint of fleur de sel salt. Green fruits make a comeback. Toffee is still here. Nice oak spice. Pleasant and clean, drinker-friendly finish. Sufficient complexity. Medium length, medium intensity finish. |
A shame you missed in the Cyber Monday sale! It benefits a lot from being open for a while, but this is a very solid blended scotch. The beer cask is recognizable, in a good way! Full review here: https://maltfascination.com/2024/12/04/lowries-reserve-blended-scotch-whisky-45-7-thompson-brothers/
Blended and bottled in Dornoch = and that's exactly where I'll be in 26 days: at the Dornoch Castle Hotel ???? - I'm excited to see if I'll run into Phil & Simon Thompson ???? And that's exactly why this fine drop had to go into the glass right now ???? On the homepage there is also a summary of what exactly is included: 20.5% – Strathclyde Single Grain 1994, 28 years old, Refill Bourbon 19.9% – Speyside Single Malt 2012, 11 years old, Bourbon Hogshead 51.6% – Blended Scotch 2012, 10 years old, Sherry Hogshead 8.00% – SRV5 Campervan Brewery cask finish. As soon as I poured it, wonderful light aromas surround my nose: lots of light fruits such as yellow, juicy pears, quinces, apricots, a hint of orange, vanilla, light, creamy summer blossom honey... it is sweet, fruity - but there is also something floral in it ...plus a minimal hint of shortbread if you give it a little time... In the mouth it goes exactly the same way: incredibly sweet with lots of light/yellow fruits, pears again, but now also apricots, vanilla and honey again. I actually wouldn't have guessed the 45.7% - more like 48%, but that may depend on the day. Different spices are gradually added, but the sweet fruitiness remains constant = the finish has a nice, decent length. For me the perfect spring/early summer whiskey = I'm thrilled!
Very nicely blended. Somewhat standard maybe but I really like it for that. Quite sweet without being cloying, with plenty of aged notes without cardboard or metallic grain notes. Not sure if biased, but I think the small addition of beer/wine cask does bring in a certain funkiness which may or may not add to the end results. The nose is quite alluring. Someone mentioned that it reminded them of Glenburgie, and I think I can see that with the floral notes being upfront. Overall very pleasant, and I really contemplated getting one more of the same bottle which I rarely do.
