I compare it to the current 15: a few shades darker, redder than the 15 - but nowhere near the difference in flavors as between the 12 and the 15. Oh yes, it's fun... you can tell it's age, no question. In the nosing you find a little more than in the 15er, they are quite similar in taste, even if you get more tannins, which are not too woody, but rather give off a nice, pleasant spice. Class. The American Oak gives off a little more honey/caramel notes, the Virgin Oak a touch more tannins for the tongue. Overall, a very good balance was found. The finish is almost similar to the 15er. So, now the crucial question: is it worth it? A clear one: Jain. It has a bit more of everything compared to the 15, it seems more sedate and sweeter too. But it also costs twice as much as the 15. Is it worth it? Everyone has to decide for themselves. The question about the desert island and all: one bottle of 18 or two bottles of 15? Personally, I would prefer to take two bottles of the 15er with me. The differences are somehow there, but not that extreme. The difference between 12 and 15 was completely different. [91 - 87 = extremely tasty -> it's best if I get a second bottle]

Quick note: Sweet red fruits on the nose, a mild palate and finish, leather and em-eucalyptus wild cherry candy. A great whisky that suits my taste.

I previously had a Glenallachie 10yo Portfinish with 48% from 2024 and was not very impressed (82 points). This one is a lot better and I like it a lot. A very charming all-day dram with plenty of quality and a certain age. Even if the price is a bit steep. Even I would buy it if I had to buy a Glenallachie, which I would never do voluntarily. I can very well imagine this fine whisky enjoying in the fall, as a leisurely drink. The nose is beautiful, and the rest of the flavor is equally convincing. Not too sweet, yet more like a dessert dram. Well done, Glenallachie.

Нос	89	88.5 The nose is wonderfully harmonious, and the age is clearly noticeable, at least for this dilution. But the 46% alcohol content is perfectly adequate here. I find the primary aromas to be vanilla, cinnamon, and cherries (these are exactly the official tasting notes, but they are true). Then comes chocolate, molasses and a matching floral note. Eucalyptus in the background. Fantastic.

The price is quite reasonable considering its age. Despite this, the main theme is clear: the bitterness is excessive. I'm sure we'll notice this without warning when it comes to 100% Billy Walker's own products. Other than that, it has no real flaws, and those who prefer sherry can easily overlook them. It's a tasteful bottling, but it could be more enjoyable. Price performance: Good. Would I buy it again?: Maybe, maybe as a gift for someone rather than for myself :).

Нос	88	A full-bodied sherry! Red fruits are here, with prunes, liqueur cherries, and raisins very clearly present. Tobacco, cigar box, and light dried figs follow. Spices; cinnamon at the forefront, mulled wine followed by spices. Even the nose is sweet. A few molasses-like notes, between carob and mulberry molasses. Even the nose is full-bodied. Despite its 18 years, there's still a liveliness in the background. Despite its age, this one makes the most sense as stone fruit: red plums. Red grape pulp. Very perfumed. A very light roastiness that begins with milky coffee. That gluey scent, expected from sherry but better integrated than most whiskys. Super nose.

The vibrant fruits are a bit more prominent than the dried ones, but the dried ones still dominate. The spices shine the brightest. Nutmeg, cumin, star anise, and cinnamon come through. I was expecting a sweet palate, but the sweetness can be said to be medium-low. The extraordinary whisky on the nose becomes a bit ordinary on the palate. A dark soy sauce note is also detected in the background. It definitely doesn't feel watered down; it has a nice, at least medium-high body. The bitterness overpowers the taste, and you could say it's overoaked. It's not bad, but it could be much better. The bitterness diminishes with oxidation.

While the bitterness is, interestingly, more pronounced on the palate, it can be considered a slight negative here. Spicy notes also play a role in the transition. Finally, we detect cumin and star anise. Grape pomace follows immediately. Raisins. Medium length, perhaps a touch below medium. Not too intense, especially at the end.
