This is a very tasty, smooth Edradour, enhanced by smoke and the sunny smile of the taster. This is probably the best I have tasted from Edradour. 23 23 22 22

A very refined, sweet, and pleasantly drinkable whisky. Plenty of ripe fruit, old wine, and woody notes. It warms pleasantly, perfectly camouflages the alcohol, and is excellent as a dessert whisky. If you're looking for a good whisky, consider buying this bottle.

Cherries in chocolate, a little gum, cold black tea. Everything seems to be well done as in this type of tape, but purely for me there is some vague characteristic here that I don't really like. And this is not the first time with Balekin. There's something sweet and sour about his profile that turns me off. Therefore, my assessment should probably be taken into account as an individual intolerance.
A good wine-style whisky that might have been classier if Ballechin had been alive in it and not been aged in barrels for so long IMHO. 22 21+ 20+ 21+ 85+

| Нос | 90 | Extremely. You can sit for hours and enjoy the change and development of aromatics. To my surprise, quite a bit of smoke. At least not as much as I expected with 50 ppm. This is pleasing, because the smoke is perfectly integrated and just nicely complements the overall aroma. In the beginning - it's strawberry, cherry, mountain honey with the aroma of herbs, mint, blackberry, lots of milk chocolate, vanilla... lots of meaty bacon aromas. |

Alcohol is felt quite strongly and at first one has the impression that the whisky is 10 years old. Next is the development of the taste and here it is already clear that we are dealing with an older age. Lots of chocolate and a little smoke. Blackberry and cherry jam, quality sherry notes, bacon. Minerality and lots of jam. But it is surprising that there is no strong acidity, characteristic of red wine barrels. nice ashy, intense, complex aroma, strongly fruity character of overripe fruit. The taste is very very spicy, woody, interesting, but this shot doesn't really appeal to me
a little rough around the edges, but still a vibrant and pleasant dram nonetheless.. less smoky than other Ballechin iterations, it is juicy, red fruits and citrusy ginger that take center stage.. the wine is definitely overpowering the whisky
Soft smoke, soft highland peat, more on earthy side, sweet ripe red fruit/berries/ cherries jam, dried red fruit berries jam, a bit of tannin, vanillic, a bit of caramelish charred notes, well oaked red winey structured sourness at finish, with a bit of older sherry notes, dried fruits, caramel nuts, prominent dark chocolate under the red wine influence at middle till finish. A bit of peppery notes and alcohol bites to balance out the richness. Good complex dram. 89+

N: I get strawberry and blackberry jams right off the bat. Then BBQ’d meats, some salinity, black cherries, blueberries, a lot of berries, and very dark chocolate. This is a very wine forward nose and that makes sense given that this whisky was fully aged in Burgundy casks. P: Earthy peat to start then back to berries. Blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, then mixed berry jams, chocolate with sea salt, smoked meats, black cherries, black pepper, and caramel. The mouthfeel is very rich and it has a tannic quality. F: More of the same from the palate with continued berry notes, earthy peat, touches of salt, and more wine tannins. This is everything I want in a wine cask matured whisky. I give it 90pts.

This is not my style but I quite like this. A hint of chocolate in the finish as well does the trick. Like it a great deal more than the 2004 Manzanilla… Plays a lot like the Port Charlotte Cask Exploration series…
Sweet Highland smoke, a little tar. Cherries, berry compote. Alcohol is there, already noticeable at 53.5%. Chocolate comes into play in the finish.

Good, but lacks kick, not the aha effect. Nose good. But not “heavily peated”. Complete wood aroma. Complex tannin structure leads to an explosion of the mafia-like taste buds. Musty note - very short. There it was: cute and wet raincoat. Soapy, like the other Ballechin we once had. Has some of the Bruichladdich cheese. Little smoke. Rather shorter finish. Smoke expected a little more. Creamy-creamy. Great nose. (Christmas tasting 2023, The Whisky Five, 175€)

Nose of candied cherries, morello cherries, amarena, blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrants, some citrus fruits in the background, nutmeg, cloves, and reflections of forest undergrowth, moss, lichen, bark, ferns, heather. Discreet smoke, quite oily and mineral, which carries fragments of charcoal. On the palate, the fruits are very slightly acidic, more on raspberry, redcurrant, lingonberry, intense spices mixed with an earthy and chalky peat. The finish is long, full, with notes of dark chocolate, chicory, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, saffron, a drop of fuel oil. But Ballechin and Burgundy are a great combination ???? you can see that the whisky spent 17 years in Burgundy barrels. Very well-arranged, no abv at all, oily and sweet. I expected more smoke, because I remember that in Ballechinu there was usually a lot of smoke and peat, but personally it's enough for me. Plums in chocolate, black tea, soy sauce, varnish, basement, old furniture.

I can nose this for days. In addition to dried fruits, chocolate, and cherry notes, I somehow get a lot of butter / buttered toast on the nose. The palate is winey (fortified wine?) with notes of earthy mushroom. The finish is delicate with a hint of peat in the background - the peat brings all together in the end. Wonderful stuff.
It takes a long time to open up, otherwise you risk drinking colored wine alcohol. Pour no more than 20 ml into a glass. In general, a lot of "dancing with a tambourine" in order to be able to drink, but if you do everything right, you can enjoy it.
