It reminds me of the older Laphroaig 18y bottlings. Medium intensity medicinal smoke, minerality, yellow orchard fruits (think apples and pears), malt, wood, black pepper, caramel, honey.

The smell convinces right away, intense, a nice interplay of sweet fruit, the freshness of the mint and the cold smoke. The taste confirms the impressions from the nose, albeit with a little less smoke. In the finish, the smoke returns and dominates. The sherry influence is reserved and only provides additional notes to the smoke. This results in a harmonious, multi-layered whisky that is convincing in every respect.

the nose is a peach (!) very fragrant, with peat, forest pine and red fruits mingling,, the palate is a bit of a let down, maybe a little thin, maybe a little less development than the taste would have led me to believe.. but it's still nice enough to make me want to purchase a bottle.. but somehow, at 200 e, i find it is a bit of a stretch for what this whisky has to offer.. around 150 would have been more adequate.

Whisky for hedonism and selfishness! A worthy Laphroig with a chic profile, without any connection with such discrediting releases as Quarter Cask!!! By the way, it looks more like Bourbon Barrel than Sherry Butt. 23 22 21 22

The aroma has a distinct burnt rotten log, sweet baked apples and caramel. The taste is sweet, slightly sour, with nuances of burnt apples, burnt wood and hot spices. The finish is long-lasting, tart, woody, smoky apple. A very even and balanced Lafroeig in sherry, the barrel could not have a strong influence on the distillery profile, but was able to decorate it a little. RATING: 88pts - | 87 - 89 (B +) → Great | - Always nice to have a bottle of this.
