Takes water well, and takes a lot of it. If you're into the contemporary, sticky ex-sherry profile with big oak spikes and would like something that is über-condensed, then this is great value for money. For me, personally, it's just too much.

Нос84No major (extraneous) sulphur issues, apart from Craigellachie's own spirit sulphur, it seems. Thank goodness. Dominated by heavy, thick sherry and active American oak. Marzipan, cherry cola, oodles of slightly burnt caramel.
Вкус81With sufficient water it gets pleasantly leathery and polish-y, with black forest gateau and plenty of (artificial) maraschino cherry. The modern/seasoning sherry onslaught is too much for me, though. This is pretty much drowned in sherry.

Overall, a pretty cognac-like impression - not much of the Craigellachie can be seen. Still mostly very tasty.

Нос87Dark golden brown sticks to the edge of the glass, creamy caramel, milk chocolate and a few fruits that are initially not clearly defined rise from the glass. A grassy, floral freshness with beech bark and rosemary briefly passes by the nose and brings some black wine gums and the good old refreshment sticks lemon. The fruits from raspberries to prunes, as well as the chocolate and some nuts, come back pleasantly: Loriot's pear Helene and macadamia nuts in milk chocolate. Overall, a pretty cognac-like impression, but the Craigellachie is a bit difficult to recognize among all the sweetness, at best with a slightly meaty impression.

A very good, balanced everyday whisky from Craigallachie. Not dyed, not filtered and cask strength. That's the way it has to be. I like it very much. For about 65 euros you get here really a good whisky, which can convince. The trend is yes to these "young" whiskys with cask strength, as this fits in well here. I like it better than all the Glenlivet bottlings for the embassy etc ... For a scoring I have to try it again. But given the good PLV I would see him at 89 or 90 points.

The sherry gods somehow seem a bit artificial. In addition, coffee and roast aromas in the mouth. I do not like it that way. But it's probably because of me, because I am generally not a big fan of the young sherry whisky.
