COLOR: dark gold - very good quality bottling - really nice aroma whether with or without water - at 70€ you really can't complain, great value for money

This is the Glen Scotia Society Edition 2025 – although I couldn't find out what the Glen Scotia Society actually is. The whisky will be available in many shops from €65 starting in early 2026. This bottling is specifically for the German market and is neither chill-filtered nor colored. It also states that the whisky is unpeated, which I always find a bit disappointing. glen-efze.de

I read something about lactic acid in a review. Until now, I hadn't given any thought to the connection between whisky and lactic acid. But now… Slightly harsh with a papery aftertaste (?). PX and Oloroso remain very subtly in the background. Perhaps I'm just disappointed because I found this dram quite tasty when I bought it at a trade fair. Did I get a mislabeled bottle?

What a surprise – I wasn't expecting that at all. This Glen Scotia certainly isn't the most complex of its kind, but this is exactly what I imagine a successful cask strength whisky to be. The whisky is intensely flavorful and delivers precisely what you'd hope for from a bottling of this type. The aromas are powerful and direct, without seeming overpowering. It truly creates a small explosion of flavor in the mouth, which is enjoyable and keeps you intrigued. I also find the flavor profile itself appealing and harmonious. Overall, a very successful cask strength bottling that demonstrates just how much expression can be packed into such a release.

Rum and plum notes on the nose, followed by a hint of citrus. Sweet vanilla dominates the palate, thanks in part to the rare harmonization in first-fill bourbon casks by Michael Henry. This is followed by sweet dried fruit aromas and a slightly nutty character. All in all, a more than successful whisky with exciting depth, which, in addition to the components mentioned, impresses across the board with its typical maritime Campbeltown DNA. My favorite in August.

FUNKY! FUNKY! FUNKY! this whisky has a sour milk smell or fermented fruit/ a lot of lactic acid on the palate with some sour fruit at the back of it. finish very short - thank god
