Die Glen Scotia Icons of Campbeltown Serie ist eine Hommage an das Wahrzeichen von Campbeltown, das Campbeltown Cross. Нос	87	Ripe plums and sun-dried sultanas lead, with underlying notes of fermented dough, hay, and sweet red apples.
Вкус	87	Salty accents at the beginning, followed by oak spicy, sour cherry, plum, and apricot. The aromas are well balanced, with a soft, smooth mouthfeel. Fruity and lightly woody overall. Its youth is evident, but it remains surprisingly approachable and enjoyable.
Финиш	86	Notes of dried fruits, clove and marzipan. Gently drying, leading to a relatively short finish. The aftertaste is a bit too fresh for my preference; otherwise, it is an easy-drinking and enjoyable, sherry-forward whisky.

Interestingly, this is the oldest tasting whisky I've ever tasted despite the age statement. I didn't detect much in the way of port notes from the barrel, however, but while it started off kind of unimpressive, it opened and grew into something that tasted as old and as nice as the legend himself. Also of note: I received both a bottle and a sample. These notes are from the bottle. I actually tried the sample first, but it tasted very subtle and honestly a little poisonous and more closely resembling the insect spray flavor that some have gotten.

The Icons of Campbeltown The Wulver is a wonderfully robust and appealing port-matured whisky from Glen Scotia. It boasts a fantastic mouthfeel and rich fruit aromas. The spice notes and the wonderful selection of red fruits make it very full-bodied, expansive, and complex. A successful interplay of spices and sweet, ripe fruits. A truly great single malt from Glen Scotia. Christmas can come, the whisky is already on the shelf.

Rum soaked raisins, cocoa, chemical spray (clear off-note), old wood, mix of exotic spices. No balance. Sorry, this is not mine at all! In my opinion, Glen Scotia spirit and red wine simply do not go together.

Interestingly the nose does not give away the cask type at all. It's very heavily set on sugary sweet oranges and lemons with sweet spices like cinnamon and syrupy ginger. The taste is more bitter with added notes of clove and pepper. Now it indeed gets close to glühwein. In the finish a tannic bitterness and pepperiness do take over however, which is a little too much for me.

Glen Scotia's Icons of Campbeltown series is inspired by motifs from the Campbeltown Cross, a Celtic cross that may have originated around 1380. One of the depictions is the Wulfer, a creature said to be half wolf, half man, who lived on the outskirts of Campbeltown. By day, the Wulfer would fish alone, which he would then leave at night on the doorsteps of the needy. This bottling is 12 years old, unpeated, and finished in first-fill Tawny Port casks. Campbeltown, 30/6/26. “Glen Scotia Limited Editions” tasting in the distillery. With Port, the going gets tough and risky, but even in this case they played it safe, and the Portuguese wine was in contact with the whisky for only nine months. The result is a spicy malt, with light and elegant vinous notes, very sweet but not cloying, rich in hints of red fruit jam and chocolate. Here too, the alcohol is perfectly integrated—congratulations!
