| Нос | 88 | Fresh (literally) smoke, as if a bonfire was extinguished by a light summer rain, dew in the grass, fragrant hay, fresh green spices - lovage and dill. We keep looking, kitchen sweetness, slightly spicy, again plants - birch syrup, apricot, quince, grilled pineapple, tea with chamomile. |
| Вкус | 88 | Creamy, honey, vanilla - sounds boring, so let's expand, there is a slightly dry advocat, grapefruit, salty caramel, peanut butter, occasional aftertaste of dandelion bitterness, mead - moderately sweet. The longer it gets sour, green unripe apples, blackthorn. I haven't mentioned the smoke yet, so far it's probably the most balanced and moderately smoky Kilchoman I've ever drank, which doesn't mean that the ppm is missing here, not at all. They were either limited for this distillery, or dominated by the barrel. |
| Финиш | 87 | Medium long or long, tart, "green", immature, sorrel, salted peanuts, sour peat, lime soda, apple cider vinegar. |

Unsurprisingly, the nose is dry Sherry, with white fruits and olives, some vegetal notes, and behind it a broad and moist peat, rocky and salty. Undergrowth, reeds, a grapefruit zest. Asphalt. Quite austere on the palate, but full, on pear and cooked apples. A hint of caramel, the spices are discreet, but a little exotic. ginger, cardamom, pepper. Pine needles. Long, successful, forest finish, resin, humus, heather, ashes and charcoal. Shortbread cookies. I liked this one less than the previous edition of 2020. And besides, I'm not the only one, it is less well rated on Whiskybase. Yet he is older and stronger in alcohol. Maybe with age, the Fino imposes its mark more deeply, and it's a bit weird like Sherry after all. https://ilikesky2020.blogspot.com/2023/11/kilchoman-2018-fino-sherry-cask-matured.html

#0437 KILCHOMAN FINO SHERRY MATURED 2023 ISLAY SINGLE MALT SCOTCH Whisky 50%. ... With these "Kilchomans" it's like with Big Peat by Douglas Laing. It's the same everywhere, they only stand out with their "flavors". For now, considering the contents of the bottles "here and now", these are good choices (this is of course my opinion and mine alone). Each of you can have your own, unique one. Of course, if you tried a few Kilchomans at once, you could say that this one is better than this one, and that one than the previous one. The flavor profile in each of them is preserved, some call it the DNA of the distillery.
Slightly older than the last Kilchoman Fino of 2020 at five years old, the age sounds just as good on the tongue. Fino goes well with Kilchoman in terms of taste, I'm curious how older Kilchoman will do in Fino Casks. (Kilchoman Feis Ile Tasting 06/01/2023)
Fresh, citrusy, tangy. Some hay, fresh mushrooms and hard cheese. Very interesting reveal
(Initial neck pour) NOSE: Nice Fino Sherry notes with almond, walnut and Moroccan preserved lemons. All successfully intertwined with liquorice like ashy peat smoke. Intriguing. (90-91p) TASTE: Sweet arrival and ashy dry finish. Chalky, salty citrusy mid palate with “dry fruitiness”. (88p) OVERALL: Another successful Fino whisky from Kilchoman. 89 points.

| Нос | 87 | Short sour notes at the beginning. citrus. Then lots of nuts. Hazelnut. Sweet nuts. Some salt, but relatively little for a Kilchoman. Sweetness. Milk chocolate with nuts and salt. Nuts again. Dessert chocolate. Citrus comes out again. After some time, some herbal notes came out. And finally the peat came out. But relatively gentle. It is possible that it is a matter of another Kilchoman that we have just tasted. |
| Вкус | 87 | Sweetness. Peat. Milk chocolate. Salt. Nuts. Hazelnut. Milk chocolate with nuts and salt. A pinch of spices. Cinnamon. Black pepper. Ginger. Dessert chocolate. Bitterness. Cocoa. Black coffee. Sweet again. |

Treasure of the Butterscotch Sea The aroma of this one had me a bit worried; it was so saccharine with thick butterscotch and caramel. Hints of heather and salt paired with nuts to give at least some variation, but it was otherwise relatively straightforward and sweet. My fear that the cask had obliterated the spirit was unfounded, as the palate came off remarkably balanced between dried fruits, smoke, herbs, and spice. It was sweet but never cloying as the salt, smoke, and wood resins always pulled it back from the edge. The finish was excellent and featured some classic Kilchoman citrus and medicinal herbs. Overall, a delightful clash between cask and malt in which the winner was surely everyone who got to drink it.

Magnificent, simply a benchmark Kilchoman! There are a couple of points. The wine moment is tracked very poorly, but this is a systematic problem with Ayla with such a brutal facade. There are too many watercolors and gouache in the taste. 22 22 22 22

This is the second official release matured in Fino casks, bottling in 2023. According to the box, the whisky was matured for at least five years in 20 Fino sherry casks previously used at the Jose y Miguel Martin bodega. Nose: A sophisticated, caramel-dried fruit aroma with a hint of smoke. Caramel, raisins, dried apricots, floral notes, menthol nuances, orange marmalade, dried mango, unripe pineapple, ginger, lemon zest, minerality, smoked notes, oak. Palate: the taste is full of fruity sweetness, freshness, caramel, raisins, tropical nuances, nutty tones, minerality, ash, smoked notes, tannins Finish: The aftertaste reveals fruity sweetness, tropical notes, nuts, citrus zest, ash, smoke, minerality, and oak. Balance: A delicate, refined, pleasantly fruity whisky with tropical nuances N23, P22, F21, B21
For a 100% Fino Sherry matured Kilchoman, this is rounder than I would’ve expected, not dry at all. Put emphasis on the coastal smoke. Fruits are light and delicate.
I definitely got Kilchoman, but Fino didn't seem to make it to the party. On the one hand, it's good if the barrel doesn't cover the distillate, but you'd like to feel a little more of it

| Нос | 85 | N Smoke, bonfire, green fruit, pear, apple, gooseberry, pudding. Probably more sourness than the obvious dryness that I expected. 85 |
| Вкус | 85 | M smoke, dryness, alcohol bites slightly on the tongue. Citrus fruits, grapefruit peel. The balance is ok, but it lacks a bit of claw here. 85 |
| Финиш | 86 | F relatively long, pleasant finish, dying fire, walnut peel, almonds, dark chocolate. Salted peanuts on the way out, I really like this note 86 |

It is a good whisky, but unfortunately the term "good" starts from the taste to the finish. The aroma is not very noticeable at all, for me it looks average. It's a pity, because the rest is at a decent level. It's good that the alcohol doesn't hit you, because it's quite it would be weak. I tried the drams, I definitely wouldn't buy the bottle.

| Нос | 81 | delicate, almost imperceptible, wet peat, ash from the fire, juicy grass, then there is sweetness, hazelnut, cherries in liquor |

| Финиш | 84 | medium, sweet, honey-bitter with an aftertaste of heather honey, nuts, peppermint, warming |
The aroma is surprisingly very sweet, creamy, fruity, crème brûlé, almost smokeless with a subtle marine undertone. The taste is quite smoky, fruity-sour, spicy, slightly iodine with a subtle woody note.
A good sherry bottle. The smoke is not aggressive. Complex. A very long aftertaste.

Intense peat, vanilla and a hint of spices.
Really good, dry Fino Sherry is significantly lighter (pale) than this whisky, which has been matured for 5 years in a Fino sherry cask. Overall it's nice, but I wouldn't buy it again - the PLV isn't enough to get me excited.

Of course, the question is always: compare with what? If I compare this, for example, with a Laphroig from a Fino barrel, then it would have to get 1-2 points less. All in all, this is an incredibly good Kilchoman and one of my favorites from the last few years. In my opinion, the sweetness from the Fino harmonizes incredibly well and rounds things off very well. Of course he's still a bit young, but the alcohol is still very well integrated. The typical taste comes through very well, but is not too dominant. One bottle is enough here, but I can highly recommend this to those who are interested in Kilchoman.

Unexpectedly a very successful Peated Sherry Cask. Have tasted many whiskys but this one stands out for a bottle for an affordable price. Recommended to have 1 in your whisky cabinet before the batch runs out.

I'm quite partial to peaty ones, just from the beginning of my malt yourney 45y ago. Then Germany was Glenfiddich Country, a solitary Knockando and very rarely a Bowmore in a brown, dumpy slightly asymmetrical bottle (good stuff, though) in between. I ordered my first 12 Laphis 10y in the most famous Deli store in Munich (Dallmayr). Then, the 10 and 15y were tangy, peaty, seaweedy, and malty sweet, and clean as a whistle. This ìs a very wellcome revival of quality of yore. It is simply what I'd look for in a perfect Islay dram. And the cask is just perfectly matched as well. Islay and Fino Sherry wood, there is no happier marriage since Samaroli's Ardbeg 1974/9y.
87.50 Nose: fresh and slightly mineral, milky sweet and salty, Werters Original candies, ash, sea smoke, and malt, a lot of nuts and salt, citrus fruits, lemons, pineapple, very nicely arranged alcohol. Taste: very pleasant, slightly oily, creamy, honey, sweet vanilla, slightly nutty and salty, caramel, smoked nuts, slightly warming, pepper on the tongue, dry citrus fruits, pomelo, grapefruit. Finish: pleasant and long-lasting, exceptionally nutty, slightly salty toffee, salty sea smoke, salted caramel, spices, a bit of cinnamon, orange peel.

Clear noticeable improvement on the first Fino release - never thought that an extra year in the barrel would make so much difference. Very balanced and deliciously drinkable.

| Нос | 86 | Fresh and slightly mineral, playful, ashy maritime smoke, very sweet and malty, subtle nut aromas and a good pinch of salt, lemon and a hint of pineapple, some oak can already be felt, but it is quite subtle and, like the alcohol, very good incorporated into the other aromas. |
| Вкус | 85 | very nice, with honey sweetness and vanilla, lemon slices with salt, caramel, smoked malt, subtle warming alcohol and some oak pepper. Not very exciting, but a really well balanced flavor that delivers exactly what you want in a Fino Aged Kilchoman. Yummy! |
| Финиш | 85 | medium long - here again lemon, salt, campfire smoke, pleasant sweetness and subtly bitter oak. The salt, smoke and dry wood notes linger a long time. It's fun and thirsty for the next sip. |
I love it! 86 points.

Kilchoman brings a lot of different bottlings onto the market every year, it's a bit difficult to keep track of them all. This is a bottling from 2023 that matured in Fino Sherry Casks. 20 Fino Sherry Butts were bottled, in which the whisky matured for at least five years. Five years is not a lot, the whisky is young. The color is golden yellow and relatively light. glen-efze.de

My bottle has code FIN 27/03/2023 23/32
Fino is not very recognizable, but a well-made peated malt all together. Not the most complex, for me not worth the extra cost above the standard Kilchoman expressions

Really beautifully made and high quality; the casks were apparently quite good. You do have to appreciate the dry, tart Fino character, but combined with the characteristically rugged smoke, it makes for a fantastic result. My only real issue is the price. Yes, it's a good and tasty bottling, but the 2023 release price was, in my opinion, far too high. A fair price would have been at least a third lower. You can still find bottles of this bottling in stores today, though now at a price that's at least a bit more acceptable (though still too expensive for such a large batch of young Islay whisky).

| Нос | 82 | The typical aromatic Klichoman smoke, which here already veers slightly into medicinal territory. A touch of juvenile spiciness is unfortunately also present. But still very pleasant. Once the smoke has settled a bit, notes of overripe, slightly fermented light fruits and a maritime, salty sea breeze emerge. |
| Вкус | 85 | Caramel sweetness and a pleasant, dry nuttiness. A tart, dry fruitiness. The wood sends a tingling sensation to the tongue, a light pepperiness tickles the palate. |
| Финиш | 86 | The sweetness of caramel and ripe cherries, beautifully underscored by the robust smoke. Astringency and subtle oak bitterness. A very pleasant and long finish. |
