Sideburn 1992 DeDr Decadent Drams

With plenty of this Blended Malt around, we wanted to find something that offered a different perspective on this much-loved blended malt. Six years in a second-fill sherry cask have added a rich and distinctive dimension to its familiar honeyed intensity and generous fruit. Earthy depths and tobacco notes add further complexity, making this a rewarding variation for anyone familiar with the more common bourbon-matured examples. The same familiar spirit, a different perspective, and a character that's still hard to disguise, whatever name you are allowed to call it. Nose: Green and yellow fruits, but also big notes of golden sultana, old Fins Bois cognac, mead and heather honey. Then herbal liqueurs, Tiger Balm and unlit cigars in a humidor. Lush! Palate: Superbly honeyed and waxy, but also richer and more emphatically spicy than other Burnsides. Tobacco leaf, milk chocolate studded with sea salt, Dundee cake full of glazed pecans, malt loaf and hints of dry earth and rancio. Finish: Long, leafy, mineral, earthy, gently waxy and with a lingering impression of crystallised honey and winter spices.
