Overall I found it less impressive than #56. The oak influence is simply too dominant, making the whisky feel one-dimensional with limited evolution. The dried fruit and butter toffee notes are pushed too far into the background. The overall richness and complexity are lacking, to the point where nearly every other aroma requires deliberate searching beneath the overwhelming oak. At this level, the oak no longer feels like a supporting characteristic but rather the defining feature of the whisky. Overall, the profile reminds me of Signatory Vintage #36 Strathmill 12 Year Old, although this bottling feels even flatter and more one-dimensional.

Beneath that are orange peel, malt, a light fermentative character, and a faint trace of alcohol. The alcohol is well controlled, but the overall aromatic intensity is only moderate. The profile is driven primarily by citrus, oak, and spice. There is very little of the dried fruits, raisins, or rich preserved fruit character that I would normally expect from a first-fill Oloroso cask.

Dried fruit is surprisingly restrained, accompanied only by hints of varnish, citrus, and butter toffee. This is not the deep, rich preserved-fruit style often associated with classic Oloroso maturation. Instead, the cask emphasizes oak above everything else.
