Молодой, фруктово-солодовый хайленд с деликатным влиянием хереса; лучше всего аромат. Опытные ставят его крепко-средне (79–83), сходясь во мнении: приятный, но простой и не выдающийся, а вклад хересной бочки минимален.

В аромате — сладость с карамелью и мёдом, спелые фрукты (груша, яблоко, ананас, банан, персик), цветочность, иногда переходящая в мыльно-парфюмерный тон, лёгкая злаковость и минеральность; несколько дегустаторов отмечают почти как у фино или мансанильи характер и даже сравнивают нос с хорошим рислингом. Вкус лёгкий, маслянистый у отдельных бутылок, с мёдом, ванилью, сухой травянистой кромкой, лёгкой пряностью и солоноватостью; тело тонкое, что выдаёт молодость. Послевкусие короткое и невыразительное — злаки, травы, немного сладости, — и его чаще всего называют слабым местом. Опытные ревьюеры оценивают спокойно и согласованно (в основном 79–83): признают приятность и хороший для четырёхлетнего возраста аромат, но подчёркивают простоту, невысокую сложность и то, что вкусом правит дистиллят, а не бочка — влияние олоросо едва различимо и проявляется лишь к финалу. Один опытный автор выбивается резко негативно, вылив образец: плоско, скучно, слишком много спирта. Менее авторитетные оценки разбросаны шире — от восторженных 85–87 до провальных 52, 63, 70 с упрёками в несбалансированности, тонкости и незрелости; заметная линия критики — сравнение с первым релизом Hand Crafted, чья торфяная кромка и минеральная свежесть кому-то милее, тогда как другие, наоборот, ценят здешний херес. Общий разброс невелик, и расхождение сводится не к профилю, а к тому, прощают ли автору молодость.

If I didn’t know a part had matured on oloroso, I would have sworn this was fino or manzanilla. Anyway, good, but not grand. But maybe that is to be expected of a single malt of only 4 years old. Between 50 and 60 EUR.

Overall, very malty and sweet, but still occurs strong and voluminous. In the end, however, he leaves behind a still quite young character. I'm looking forward to older bottlings later

I tasted at the Whisky Festival 2017. The youth is talkative on the tongue, the body is quite thin but overall is due to the age of solid whisky, the sherry barrels seem to have helped me, I definitely have a better impression of the Aurora than the first filling of a distillery named Hand Crafted.

In my opinion this young NAS single malt scotch is way better than the "hand crafted" Wolfburn due to the sherry cask influence.

Has developed so well in the open bottle, impressive stuff at such a young age. It already shows complexity, has a big, very oily and viscous body, alongside a nice balance, especially considering it's age. It's fruity-sweet and mineral-austere at once, with a hint of smoke. Only the finish falls short, but I'm certain that'll be fixed with age. A malt with true character and an absolute recommendation for everybody willing to explore new and young malts. I'll definitely try their other stuff! Let the dram breathe for 20+ minutes and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Notes from a bottle that has been open for ~2 years with 1/4 th filling level.

Нос	79	Simple and malty initially with some pears and apples as well as hints of baby vomit, opens up very nicely after a while, some vineyard peach, some lychee, hints of star fruit and honey melon, a Sauvignon Blanc fruitiness, as well as some mineral austerity with traces of coal smoke, nicely balanced, thick, slow legs.
Вкус	84	Fruity, oily and mineral arrival, again the Sauvignon Blanc fruitiness with vineyard peach, lychee and hints of star fruit and honey melon, some austerity with pebble stone minerality, some saltiness, hints of coal smoke, a fat, oily and viscous body, good balance and decent depth, especially at such a young age.
Финиш	71	Finally it's youth shows, the Sauvignon Blanc fruitiness is subdued with only hints of lychee and star fruit, hints of it's minerality, the oak claims the upper hand it's a little blunt and stale, really short.

N: Smells of what it’s made of. The casks are most chatty on the nose, the oloroso influence as obvious as the underlying ex-bourbon. T: Reminding me of a James Eddie Teaninch [WLP85], it’s more distillate-friendly on the palate with a firm dry grassy edge. F: With an airy freshness, it’s a complete entity by the tail, malty/mashy once again. C: If not yet quite beyond the sum of its parts, it’s certainly one I can get on board with.

Serge says: Wolfburn ‘Aurora’ (46%, OB, sherry casks, 2016) It’s the third Wolfburn I’m trying. I’ll soon have to add a new page to WF’s index of distilleries. Colour: straw, so ex-refill, which is great. Nose: it hasn’t got the smoky side that was in the first Wolfburn, this is much easier, perhaps lighter, pretty much in the style of some young Speyside. Or, there, Bruichladdich. Touches of melons and peaches, apple cake, raw barley, pears, and muesli. Really gentle and, as they say in brochures (not theirs!), caressing. Mouth: solid, very good young malt whisky, with a lovely honeyness at first, then many soft fruitcakes, apples, pears, a touch of rye, and a very subtle earthiness. There’s also some fresh pollen, I think, and a spoonful of creamy vanilla. Vanilla liqueur? As for the sherry, its influence is rather minimal, and it’s the distillate that’s doing the talking. Sometimes you think they rather used first fill bourbon. Good anyway! Finish: medium, with a little barley water and always a little pollen. More towards grains and flowers than towards fruits. Comments: a bottling that makes a lot of sense since it stresses, I believe, the distillate’s style rather than anything related to the casks. That’s very honest, and very good. SGP:541 - 83 points.

Compared to the "Hand Crafted" one used here instead of smoky Quarter Casks on Sherry influence. The nose looks younger than the "Hand Crafted" with the typical malty-fruity New Make notes. The sherry (in the direction of thick orange juice) is discreetly in the background and comes out properly only in the finish. I like it very well but can not get to the predecessor. I'm still curious what else is there.

To be honest, I found this one rather boring. The hand-crafted (Wolfburn's first release from the beginning of this year) had a nice peaty edge from the use of the casks. This one is rather similar, but then without this peat. The sherry influence didn't bring much in my opinion.This makes this dram rather grassy, with of soft fruit, vanilla, and a wee saltiness.

Good easy drinking whisky, not too exciting and drinkable for the price (33€), nice for summer evenings. First very fruity on the nose, later also with some herbal aromas. In the mouth, caramel is added to the fruit and a slight saltiness. The herbal aroma comes into play in the finish and lasts a bit. Some lavender and lovage also play a part.

Нос	65	Subtle fruit, but that's it. Smells sharp, alcoholic. Doesn't bode well.
Вкус	60	A touch of nothing. Has more of a trivial whisky from the supermarket, not even the sweetness is still there.
Финиш	65	At least the sweet touch is still there. But it also wears off very quickly. Then again a touch of nothing.

The sherry is very subtle and the malt looks compared to the hand crafted much younger and immature. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a few points. The hand crafted convinced by a youthful freshness and mineral notes, this one is just too young.

Had it twice even before noon in a cigarlounge in Hamburg - wouldn't say it is a perfect match for a cigar (maybe a light dominican with floral aromas), but what a nose for such a young one. Нос	83	Pretty pleasant nose, first some sweetness, caramel. Later on it gets more and moral floral, some fragrance of soap or perfumed.
Вкус	82	A slight pepper, not too complex, some sweetness like caramel and some honey. The floral part disappears a little.
Финиш	81	Pretty short, and not very remarkable. Some caramel sweetness left.

Sweet apples, overmature fruits, cake, dust, pears, oak, vanilla and sweet perfume notes on nose. Sweet fruits, spices, light putridness, dust, apples, pears, light smoke notes on palate. Apples, vanilla, spices, oak notes on short finish. It’s a simple, young, fresh whisky.

Nose: white wine and gooseberry mineral notes (is there the word?) Taste: strong and fruity, a really interesting taste, removes one Kind of maritime touch. Finish: a little herbal, but a bit disappointing, not much happens. But the nose smells like good Riesling! Amazing. Unfortunately, he's a little unbalanced.
