Compared with WB259327, the taste changes more after taking the first sip, but the sweetness is not as high as the other one.

I felt myself crack a grin when I brought this up to my nose for the first time. It was a massive and cracking affair, with layers of maritime and dirty industrial peated malt crashing into a wall of heady oloroso which brought out the medicinal qualities of the whisky. This was not a subtle dram, though time and water did bring out more depth. The flavor profile was well-balanced and the alcogol well-integrated considering the full throttle experience. I had a feeling I would enjoy this and only hesitated due to the first fill sherry maturation, but my fears were mostly allayed (I do still prefer refill) and this more than met the occasion.

Нос	—	Rich with grilled meat, slow roasted pork butt, charred fats, and more sherried notes of dark chocolate; anise and sweet char siu marinades, slightly medicinal at times— Chinese medicine shop, shoe polish.
Вкус	—	Medium-bodied, big and bold, rich and sherried, occasionally briny and maritime, sweet cured meats, slightly ashy, lacquered wood, medicinal and herbal like a traditional Chinese medicine shop, anise, ti leaf, cacao nibs with a slight bitterness.
Финиш	—	Medium to long, maritime and drying with cacao nibs.

Вкус	88	Slight alcohol prickle. Sulfur and leather up front, then candied fruit and raisins. Smoky peat and coastal notes follow.
Финиш	87	Rather long and quite drying. Smoke, tart fruit, sulfur and coffee, with sea salt lingering.

I rarely admit that I liked anything from this bottler, in most cases I am completely disgusted by his manipulatively predominant creations and I condemn such unfair practices of his because he deliberately distorts and thus changes the perception of some consumers... But I quite liked this whisky, Wonder World. That doesn't mean that I fell for it on my ass, but as a whole, even with all the imperfections, I somehow liked it... maybe the excessive alcohol pungency detracted from the result, but otherwise ok... But that doesn't change my attitude towards this brand, so you know what you can do to me AS...

Tasted this one twice, I really loved it the first time (90 points) and liked it quite a lot the second time (88). My score and tasting note represent an average. The first fill sherry isn't overpowering, and colourwise it is relatively light. Although it has all the 'dirty' markers you can expect from Ledaig, it is a bit restrained at the same time, emphasising balance above intensity.

Нос	90	A relatively light peat smoke heralds a broad nose with many elements. Beyond the inital sharpness here is sea air, but also more earthy notes of an autumnal forest and pak choi, while it also has this typical farmy note. The sherry influence is in a hearty style with chocolate, bacon, tobacco and oranges. A hint of smoked cheese follows. Some rubber and a touch of sulphur give it the expected dirty edge Ledaig is known for.
Вкус	89	Light to medium peat at the front, with again some rubbery and sulphury accents. Citrus fruits and chocolate intertwine with a sour yogurt-like note. Fruit jams and nuts develop, while the a salty / mineral accents remind of the coastal character Ledaig is known for.
Финиш	88	The peat increases a bit in intensity again. The dirty side is on the front now, with some copper, rubber, vegetal/farmy notes and a hint of sulphur. Juicy fruits compete with a more dry oakiness and tannins, dark chocolate, liquorice and a slight bitterness. It lingers long yet subtle, it has a certain fragility to it.

a monster of finesse and complexity this 19 yo Ledaig certainly ain’t.. the sherry and the peat might not always agree with each other, the finish bites with astringency, the flavours do not mix into a coherent whole.. but it’s certainly a very enjoyable dram and there are nights when that is all that’s needed..

Nose: Medium to strong Islay-like smoke, little wood, fresh exotic fruits very strong (honey melon, half-ripe persimmon, papaya). Subtle cable burn, hardly any cowshed. Overall quite clean, elegant and fruity. (89/90 points) Palate: Medium-full body, slightly tingly. Clean, noticeably light, fruity, elegant, pleasant. The smoke now tends more towards Ledaig, without being dirty. Very good balance between smoke, very light wood flavor, fruit sweetness, fruit acidity and pomace. The same exotic fruits as in the nose. (89/90 points) Finish: Medium length, light. Subtle clean wood smoke, Charentais melon. Minimal dried meat in the background. (88/89 points) Overall, the whisky impresses with its elegance and good balance. It lacks a little body and substance. Edit: On the second attempt I got a slightly strange note in the nose. Like a varnished wooden board that was wiped down with a very well-used cleaning cloth. In any case, for me that's not 90 points in total...

Another no so great choice of Mr.S. I get it, complexity comes from batches, but I had much more complex Ledaigs from a single cask. The taste is a 10-12yo whisky at best.

Нос	—	Wohoho, no doubt we are at Tobermory's place, precisely in their farm where they certainly have their stables with plenty of dirty horses ! This is real farmy Ledaig but with an incredible dose of delicacies, mostly around salted caramel. Such a personality and singularity for those who like Ledaig. Alcohol really well integrated, autumn leaves, hot horse manure, cherry, ether, chocolate with salted caramel, plums, blood orange. 91
Вкус	—	Wohoho#2, it's been a long time I didn't taste a Ledaig like this one. Again, the alcohol is super well integrated, it's large, deep, and complex, with a full bath of horse manure accompanied by this typical ether, with oak, salt, some acidic apples and caramel. 91
Финиш	—	Long, large and generous, dry just as we like, not too much, on dead leaves, dark pepper, oak, horse saddle, superbly balanced, between the spirit and the cask and between the different notes. 91 What a pick again for these Symington's choice, at worst it's good, at best it's very good.

Interesting dram. Quite different from the SV Ledaig 2005 17y (cask 900043), which I had before, and enjoyed very much (found it, at 2 years younger, to be fuller and more complex; a bit better i.m.o.). To me it's very informative to have tasted and compared these two. In a way they are the same, but at the same time, they're very different. The 17y.o. has all the maritime notes, which is right up my alley. The refill vs first fill sherry butt situation, is probably a factor also.

Финиш	—	not very long, medium at the most - the ash and the mouth coating develops into pleasant (but thinner) sour notes, then bitter, and at the very end, a touch of soap

A Ledaig in the (great!) Symington-range? A must-try for sure. Let's see... Nice fat and stinky wet peat, you can smell Ledaig a mile against the stormy wind. Which means basically it's already a winner for me, unless something goes wrong in the taste. Super good entry, trademark salty, maritime Ledaig notes, strong but not too strong. Very nice length, very consistent with just slightly drying mouthfeel. You'll tend to wet your mouth again, which makes the taste come back even stronger and with a vengeance. I love it. ❤️ Nothing for a blind tasting though, 100% Ledaig from end to end.

My second tasting of the malt, without water and still my first impressions and two things in advance: You should definitely love dirty notes in your whisky and you shouldn't expect a sherry must here either.

Нос	91	Wonderfully medicinal-smoky, maritime and dirty (reminds me of burnt car tires ;-)). Spicy, tart with oak notes and subtle sherry influences, a little heather and mineral; removes iodine and ham.
Вкус	91	The Ledaig is very gentle on the tongue at first, and then immediately present: clearly a Ledaig, dirty, cowshed, smoke, which is rather dirty and medicinal. This is followed by slightly herbal notes and yes, there is also the sherry cask, which has worked wonderfully and does not overpower the malt at all. Dark dried fruit and very light citrus notes in the background; tannins, spray.
Финиш	90	The whisky has a lot of power, which is never unpleasant. The dirty smoke becomes increasingly "cleaner" in the finish and becomes lingering campfire smoke that lingers on the cheeks with oak spice and a slight sweetness. I personally like it very much.

OB 2018 10yo 46.3% (WB147845) has a juicy impression, the smoke is integrated and is especially evident in the finish. GM 2021 43% (WB195205) similar in character, but more pronounced dry smoke in the aroma, permeates the taste like a wrapper and defines the juicy character of the distillate until the end. Like financial control over accounting :) SV 2023 17yo 65% (!),WB235769 has surprisingly solidly integrated huge alcohol, the greatest depth of all the evaluated and a great balance of smokiness with fruity juiciness. Intense aroma, powerful taste, long and strong finish without vibrations. Must have. In intensity it beats its stablemate, SV 2024, 19yo, 54.1% (WB266676), which is overall weaker with a dominating influence of dry smoke. It is also flatter. Why is it the author's choice (Symington's choice), when the author can serve clearly better fillings?

Нос	90	Raisins in rum, red currant fruit, sour cherries, beautiful soft smooth salty smoke, roasted meats, sulfur, delicate herbs, beautiful full aroma that develops nicely after about an hour in the glass.
Вкус	89	At first, the fruity taste of red fruits and raisins floods the tongue, followed by a nice, relatively strong but smooth taste of salty sea smoke, then the sulfur contributes to the diverse taste of the dram. Soft lemons dry wine
