A series of which it is almost 'boring' to talk about, so constant is the quality, albeit with small variations from year to year that do not, however, undermine the perfect marriage between Kilchoman's distillate and ex-sherry casks. Everyone will certainly have their own preferences, but at least on the last five vintages I have tried, one never falls short.

Нос	88	Fleshy, grilled peat on the nose, with lots of BBQ sauce sprinkled on bacon and ribs, but there is also some seafood, mostly fish, with a nice burst of brine to seal the first impact. Fruit is present but in the background, with candied fruit (orange, pineapple), dried prunes and apricots, ripe mandarin and blackberries, combined with leather, nutmeg, cinnamon and a very slight vegetable inflection. Full-bodied and loaded as expected.
Вкус	87	On the palate, the spicy attack is of ginger, paprika and black pepper, with chopped herbs sprinkled over the carnivorous evocations and grilled over an open fire, with wood smoke permeating the flavours. Citrus fruits are more present in the fruity compartment, between candied orange and blood orange juice, with red fruits reinforcing the acidulous part, while sweet liquorice, leather, carob and the coastal and saline part closing the sip.
Финиш	86	The finish is quite long and crisp, with spices, citrus, cola, burnt wood, red fruits, liquorice and salt.

Top dram from Islay. On the nose getting loads of peat, BBQ smoke , chocolate, honey caramels. Taste - smoked ham, sweet barley sugar, Brazil nuts, cask influences of sherry, figs, berries, bbq sauce, barley sugar, malt, with campfire pork. Dark caramels, vanilla, and honey..Finish citrus and toffee. This bottle did not last long On my shelf. About to replace thanks to a a special price offer of €69. Well worth it.

A rather tasty and balanced Kilchoman, which surprisingly misses a density in my opinion. At 50% and sherry maturation it was expected to deliver a higher concentration of flavors. By the way, is it full sherry maturation or just a finish? I suspect the latter, because neither color nor taste leave a feeling of tasting a sherry bomb. Have not checked this expression for last 4-5 years, but the previous releases seemed to be more sherry-forward. The good point is that this Loch Gorm does not feel too young.

Great new Kilchoman Loch Gorm. This year's bottling is again a bolder and bolder version. The last Loch Gorms were too soft and sweet for me. Now we have the Islay sparkling wine again, if Octomore is the champagne.

Licorice and quetsches, muscat grapes. The peat is not too strong, very earthy. It gives a nice balance. Chocolate filled with dried fruits, bark dipped in caramel, a few drops of heating oil and gas oil. Fig, thick smoke, honeyed touches. Blueberry jam, peach pit. Dark chocolate mousse. Velvety mouth, which reflects the nose well, melted chocolate, which flows over a fresh pear, red fruits, cinnamon, puffs of smoke. The spices are barely noticeable, a little nutmeg is all. Long finish, quite smoky, not very explosive. Wood dripping with molasses, amber tobacco, brewer's yeast, cereal notes. I found that this one put a lot of emphasis on licorice, and I didn't totally like it. A bit anonymous and thin. Not a whole lot of taste in general. No off notes either though. It has opened up a bit more since the neck pour but it's a disappointment still. The Sanaig is the better alternative for me. It is sweeter and has a better body

This year's version of Kilchoman Loch Gorm is a very successful one indeed. Sweet, delicate, with lots of campfire smoke, honey and forest fruits. It spreads beautifully throughout the body, gently warming up, without any traces of bitterness. Worth the price. Bottle available for purchase!

A well-crafted Islay sherried peat whisky. The strong smoky and medicinal notes are welcoming, with notable acidity both in the nose and on the palate. The creamy, buttery mouthfeel is particularly memorable. A personal preference would be a lower acidity on the palate and more pronounced grainy nuttiness, but it remains a delightful and enjoyable dram.

Part of Kilchoman 2024 European Tour tasting. Great synergy between the distillate and the good sherry cask. Wet cigar, sweet vibrant spices. Delicious. What was told to us by James Wills (son of the owner and the Marketing Manager of Kilchoman) is that this new 2004 Loch Gorm is a month short of being 10 years old. What was the reason to pull out the whisky at 9 ys and 11 months - is a mystery.

Loch Gorm is the sherry maturation from Kilchoman. It is stated here that the whisky was matured in ex-Oloroso butts that were used in the Bodega José y Miguel Martín for at least 9 years. But how long was the whisky matured? The packaging and label are silent on this. The box states that there are 17 fresh and 6 refill casks from three different distillation years. But which years are these? At the time of release, the distillery news says something about 'distilled in 2014' - but that doesn't match the three distillation years. Transparency is different. And that brings us to the point that really annoys me about Kilchoman. In photos, the whisky is darker than it appears to me in the glass. There it is a beautiful, strong gold tone. glen-efze.de

In addition to the typical peat, I also smell an aftertaste of something industrial, such as some kind of lubricant or oil. There is also a certain dose of medicine in the background and quite pronounced acidity. The influence of the olo barrels is noticeable but not too exaggerated. Overall, a good drink that for some reason reminds me of the aroma of pipe tobacco or some quality cigar.

Вкус	85	Surprised and a little disappointed because the sweetness from the nosing is missing. Instead, there is just a hint of peach and a lot more spice. The Kilchoman smoke is now much more noticeable.
Финиш	86	Fruitiness and sweetness are completely lost. Once you get used to it, you will be pleased with the many spices and even more peat smoke that linger for a very long time.

A very nice nose. Notes of red fruits and berries, but primarily a gently sweet smoke with hints of marinated grilled meat, as well as spices, cinnamon, and grilled fruit. On the palate, spicy and smoky notes dominate even more distinctly. Baking spices like cinnamon and cloves, but also pepper and vanilla, combine with bitter notes of charred wood and a hint of smoked bacon. This is underscored by a subtle sweetness and light fruit notes; I primarily detect dark berries like blackberry, but also hints of citrus and lighter fruits. A tasty whisky, but I prefer the Loch Gorm 2026 (WB298152). It has more fruity notes, while the Loch Gorm 2024 offers significantly stronger smoke and more spice. This whisky is solid nonetheless.
