Bought this whisky after watching Ralphy video on youtube. But bough different bottling. Still, was really happy with the unique aromas. Of course, it's not a single cask, but for what it is and knowing the price is about 58 Eur, it's more the worth it. Budget sherry whisky for adults.

| Нос | 90 | Vanilla, wet wood, red grape juice, raisins, tobacco, sweet and sour notes: currants, quince, golden jumbo raisins. Nail polish, raspberries, vanilla pudding, canned peaches, mycelium. A very interesting atypical red wine note. This makes this Mortlach different and much to like. After adding a couple of drops of water, ripe berries, old books, lemon-orange freshness, perfume, aromas of ripe strawberries rise to the top. Light, not too intense Christmas cake spices. There is also a floral aroma. Different tasting glass reveals aromas of dark chocolate with cherry filling, green apple, smoldering wood, hay and dried herbs in the lay. Werther's Original caramel pastilles. Just a great and extremely complex whisky scent. |
| Вкус | 87 | Sweet and sour, saliva-generating start, slightly tingly. These are followed by the sweetness of honey, vanilla, sherry casks and chili aromas. The second sip emphasizes the spiciness and oiliness of the chili even more. Soft smoke, dark chocolate, sour red berries, most similar to cranberries. The taste transitions to dry quite quickly, thus revealing that it is still quite young and has been in a really good alive barrel. |
| Финиш | 86 | Creamy, soft, black bread, a bit of sherry tannins. Leather, red grapes, mint. Orange peel, long warming Christmas spices. Fruitiness fades, darker notes, tobacco, oak, spices remain active. |
Typical example of why I'm always a little hesitant with winecask-matured whisky's. Sometimes it works fine, leading to some nice fruitiness, but it easily can work in a complete different way as well, leading to winey sour- and bitterness. Unfortunately, this bottle belongs to the second category. This is really not such a good whisky, there's so much better for this price.

| Нос | 79 | Quite modest nose initially, quite some light red fruits, berries. Some kind of metallic whiff as well. |
| Вкус | 80 | Quite powerful now suddenly, a lot of spiciness, black pepper. Quite some bitterness as well. Behind that, some light red fruits, but more sour winey and bitterness. |
| Финиш | 79 | Still some power, but less than the body. Still spicy, black pepper. Licorice sticks, wood, not too long, some kind of bitter finish, with a metallic-like taste. |
Love it, mortlach and wine cask????

A not entirely well-rounded whisky, it falls apart in the mouth; there are better ones in this range. My criteria: up to 30 to give away up to 60 good whisky up to 90 very good over 90 top

| Вкус | 60 | Starts sweet, becomes very dry in the mouth, not very complex |

strawberries galore, spiced with red chilli. Wine finish is ok, not overdominating the spirit qualities. Excellent vfm.

Whiskydream.de has rated: The uncolored and unchill-filtered Mortlach shines in the glass in reddish copper. It was bottled as Signatory Vintage Small Batch Edition #6 and matured for 10 years in former red wine barrels from Tuscany. You can immediately smell wine aromas and berries, the alcohol is well integrated. In the background there is a mix of hay and dried herbs, most reminiscent of mown and dried alpine meadows. There is also some cocoa mass, a little nut aroma and a very subtle malt candy.(84) In the mouth, the Mortlach spreads out oily, fruity and peppery with sweetness (honey and chocolate) and wine aroma (but not dominant). The second sip adds the taste of wood and a little leather. Overall medium-bodied, relatively complex for 10 years. (87) The finish is generally medium-long with notes of peppery oak and a warming finish. A chocolatey, melting, oily aftertaste remains for quite a long time. (86) Overall rating: 86 points More information: www.whiskydream.de

| Нос | 83 | Initially, typical mortlach aromas, such as floral notes, earth, and delicate smoke, gradually followed by notes of red berries, dark chocolate with cherry and flavored hookah tobacco. Unusual but somehow also exciting. With water: floral, warm earth, chocolate, smoke and red berries, |
| Вкус | 84 | spicy, oily start. Pepper, oak, earth, delicate smoke, dark chocolate but also lots of sour red berries and grape pomace. All in all, not necessarily my preferred combination but it certainly has its moments. With water: much better - juicy fruit notes of currants, cranberries and goji berries, followed by oak, smoke, bracken and chocolate. |
| Финиш | 83 | Long, spicy, dark chocolate, lots of orange zest and tobacco. |
The wine barrel maturation is clearly visible. Not bad at all, it's quite pleasant to drink. For lovers of wine barrel aging, it's certainly not a bad choice at a price of around 50 euros. But I don't need a large bottle of it.

Smell: Hard candy, nail polish, raspberries, vanilla pudding, beeswax, green grapes, slightly tobacco, canned peach, delicate dust and mycelium Taste: Raspberries, oak, leather, strawberry, red currant, wet cardboard, peanuts, delicate leather and grapefruit
Unfortunately presence of sulfur, especially in the nose, turns this malt into a kind of disappointment to me. The density and texture are the things which I like in it - after 3-4 sips I'm getting used to the nose as well. But after a few minutes aside the same unpleasant aromas pop up again. I cannot call myself too sensitive to sulfur, but this Mortlach is not my type of whisky.
нос · вкус · финиш
| Нос | 83 | dense and "heavy" with evident sulfur presence. Most likely it comes not from the distillate, but from the not-so-good cask. Dried fruit, compote, cooked vegetables, earthy notes. |
| Вкус | 85 | less sulfur, wood spices, orange peel. Good texture, opens up with chocolate and nutty notes with a bit of herbs. Develops into licorice and cough syrup. |
| Финиш | 85 | long and on the dry side. More tobacco and herbal notes, leather, minerality. Even some kind of balsamic, almost cognac notes |
Tasty stuff with nice fruity notes in the direction of strawberry and alike with some mild spices around the edges. Could have used a little more power, but still an enjoyable sipper.

Price quality not bad! Good with speculaas!
Distinct barrel influence on the nose, woodiness on the palate. Despite the noticeable alcohol, dark fruit and chocolate notes emerge before a medium-long finish.
If you like red wine malts, with red wine clearly in the foreground, you should really stop here - the rather high-quality red wine barrels from Tuscany are clearly noticeable. The disadvantage of the story: the actual whisky is a bit lost in the process, because sometimes I have the feeling that I "only" have red wine in front of me (not a problem for me because I really like red wine, but for others it can be rather off-putting ). The Mortlach is then easier to recognize in the taste, but here too the red wine barrels are more in the foreground. Nice transition in the mouth. But the finish could have been a little longer. [91 - 87 = extremely tasty -> it's best to get a second bottle] Around 55 euros... I'm debating whether I'll make a whole bottle out of the sample, because flavor-wise it's worth it, If only the finish were a little longer - although that's manageable.
нос · вкус · финиш
| Нос | 90 | Quite fruity at the beginning, especially red fruits - the red wine clearly leaves its mark on the malt. Behind them are more berries, but everything is subordinate to the red grapes: for me the Merlot with all its peculiarities of dark cherries, plums, dark chocolate and vanilla comes first, then the Cabernet with its black currants, followed by the Syrah with the dark leather associations and the slightly floral character. Oh, I can literally smell Tuscany. Some sweetness from honey and caramel, but the sweetness is elegantly restrained. Spice of bay leaf, cloves and a little nutmeg - here too, the spicy oak/wine tannins from the red wine barrels are in the foreground. |
| Вкус | 87 | soft, creamy, spicy, then the Mortlach punch hits the tongue - oh yes, overall the Mortlach character comes through better here. But the fruity aromas are all back, he can't deny the red wine, the oak/wine tannins coat the tongue. 2nd Sip: spice again, dark fruits, the grapes are back, general berry moments on the tongue, light herbs, the bay leaf pushes forward a bit. Nice. |
| Финиш | 85 | Could be a little longer, the fruit disappears quite quickly, but dark aromas remain a bit and the oak tannins still linger a little on the tongue. Some leather and tobacco appear. |

Easy to drink, that's for sure. Nice notes, but perhaps I was expecting more than a Mortlach with a wine finish can offer. The character of the distillery barely shows through and the wine barrels don't quite set. Burning at times. Predominant notes: dark chocolate, raspberry, nougat. Complexity: low. Decent, but not up to expectations. 75 - 79 | Average
нос · вкус · финиш
| Нос | 79 | Sweet. Chocolate with raspberry. Light vinegary note, even like ketchup. Pleasant but not too complex. |
| Вкус | 80 | Black pepper attack, from the tip of the tongue to the sides of the gums. Very dissipated. Textured, dark chocolate, nougat wafers, good. The spiciness returns and the notes come in a somewhat unstructured way, the finish is not very integrated. |
| Финиш | 79 | Short mid palate. Ripe plums. Coffee. Medium aftertaste but with some fiery notes. There is even some citrus notes, a drop of lemon. |
red fruits, herbs, vanilla, orange, spices and the typical wine casks leather notes that are just not my thing
Awful!! Young. Stale. Bitter. Bone dry. Acidic oak. And no, that's not the form of the day. I had a really excellent whisky in my glass before that. This Mortlach from SV is all the more disappointing. I wouldn't even take it for free.

Dark in color, probably from red wine, woody in taste, dark chocolate, bitter, ripe plums, I wouldn't buy a bottle.
