В аромате доминируют копчёная вишнёвая варенье и джем из сливы, чернослив, изюм и финики, тёмный шоколад и жжёный сахар, восковая древесина и потёртая кожа; поверх — сдержанный островной торфяной дым, лёгкая сера, солёный морской ветер, йодистые ноты и травяно-луговые оттенки с лавандой и вереском. Во вкусе — пряная сладость, копчёный бекон и перец, вишнёвый сироп и мармелад, дубовость и сухость, разливающаяся по всему рту; крепость выше 54% интегрирована мягко и не жжёт. Послевкусие расходится в оценках: у одних длинное, сладкое и согревающее с кожей и шоколадом, у других короткое, пустое, дубово-сухое, с уходящей фруктовостью и появлением кислых, танинных тонов. Самые опытные ревьюеры отмечают гармоничность, полнотелость и «взрыв во рту» при чуть невыразительном носе, признавая, что херес с торфом закономерно привлекателен, но указывают на завышенную цену для 20-летнего возраста и намёк на искусственную ноту. Менее авторитетные оценки более критичны: плоский нос, чрезмерная сладость и доминирование бочки, быстрый распад вкуса, ослабление от воды; отдельные авторы гадают о составе (Caol Ila, Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain, Lagavulin, Bowmore). Разброс оценок умеренный (84–91) при устойчивой концентрации на 88–90, так что согласованность высокая: напиток признают вкусным и питким «вечерним» молтом, но не выдающимся и переоценённым по соотношению цены и содержания.

Goes downhill pretty drastically in 2-point steps, overall However, it's a delicious (grill) whisky. But nothing more. But it's rather too expensive for that.

Вкус87A handful of pepper in the grilled meat—oh, I'll eat the bits that fell on the charcoal, but you can guess: the whole thing will be quite bitter. Elegantly aged for 20 years doesn't look like much, but then again, we're on the dark side of Islay's power. There's still a slightly artificial note, which I find a bit odd.
Финиш85Damp, mossy logs are now in the fire basket, and everything is becoming sour and tannic. Where have the fruity notes gone from the nose?

This blended malt is delicious, sweet and very fruity with thick cherry syrup, intensely sweet plum jam, leather, and chocolate. The aroma also has a pleasant hint of sulfur, which I like. It was a great buy for €137. A whisky to savor and enjoy.

Voluminous sherry note, hardly any smoke, slightly brackish, some iodine/medicine. Lots of creamy chocolate in the mouth, little smoke here too. I'm guessing a blend of Sherry-Bunnahabhain with Laphroaig. Great again!

A bit too much barrel influence. Fortunately, this is rarely the case with the bottler MoS. However, this series still seems to live off this taste profile - which is probably in the nature of things given the name. Not really my cup of tea, but it's not so over the top that I wouldn't like it. Considering the key data (price and age) it is still a bit disappointing if you are not part of the target group for such whiskies.

Нос87If I had to bet, I would say Caol Ila, but that's what people usually say in these Secret / Unnamed or Dark Islay stories... As Kringo86 already wrote: the flavors are a bit flat. There is some peat smoke that doesn't seem quite structured behind the sweet plum note. Of course, the distillate that has been aged for 20 years is no longer fully recognizable. However, the more than 54 percent are sufficiently mild and do not burn.
Вкус86Pleasant, tasty, in contrast to a sherry board, complemented by the peat smoke and slightly salty aromas. Unfortunately a bit flat again at the end. Water dilutes the flavors quite quickly. Better to leave it out.
Финиш87Pleasant but flat mouthfeel. Then there is a nice salty note that I really like. The finish is at least medium-long, but dominated by the sweet barrel influence. Then a medium-long finish is nothing special.

Nose: Sweet, spicy, liquorice, oak, dark cherry, caramel, malt ••• Taste: Sweet, spicy, oak, slightly musty, caramel, liquorice, malt ••• Finish: Medium-long, spicy sweet notes with some oak remain. ••• Conclusion: Overall impression of a "dark" whisky. Spicy notes and dark cherry with a lovely sweetness permeate the nose and taste. It is strong in taste, but sits nicely in the mouth. No off notes. Very intense. Delicious.

Нос90Boum, big dirty peat and directly a punch of grilled salmon and at the same time a big BBQ with a lot of burnt beech wood ! I'm in Port Charlotte part here to me. Alcohol superbly integrated, a lot of salt and maritime notes. At the nose it seems younger than its announced age of 20yo. Beautiful sweetness with melted plums, round notes of nice sherry....hum... sherry and peat is often attractive i must admit ! LaphyLagyPC
Вкус88Good body, intense sherry and peat, with a lot of fruits and marmelade. The PC part disappear, the bet would change for sure, but doesn't matter. Not convincing, even if it's quite ok.
Финиш87Ohh !!! So short and so empty, what a shame, everything disappear in a second, and i just have the sherry, the peat and some fruits in the background, no more. Not bad, but so disappointing after the nice nose we get.

The real beauty comes forward with some water, lovely, chewy, nice citrusy on the nose, then dried mediterranean fruit, some chocolate, made me get back to Tempting Tanya by ANHA, which points me towards Lagavulin. Then again, yesterday, I had some eucalyptus related notes on the palate. And for some reason, not a rational one, I think there is some Bowmore in this as well. Happy to have had an opportunity to taste this one.

The nose is really good, but still a bit unspectacular. Fireworks go off in your mouth. Strong, full, spicy, delicious and very stimulating. Nice sherry chocolate on the finish. Everything lightly underlaid with Islay peat. Just subtle. Harmonizes very well. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, needs a bottle

A very accessible, but in no way boring Islay blended malt. I could imagine that this is one of those bottles that - when served in the evening - does not survive the evening.

Нос89Starts pleasantly with smoked cherry jam, blackberries and blueberries. Grated nutmeg provides a balancing spice, and a smoked ham hangs on a hook in the back room. Salty wind blows over a herb meadow, lavender, dog rose, gorse.
Вкус88Spicy-sweet smoked bacon with a not-too-strong attack. Raisins, dates, dried apricot pieces. A subtle smoky note, caramel, Grafschafter beetroot, dark chocolate, cold coffee. Dryness spreads throughout the entire mouth, with a lot of pepper and oak in tow.
Финиш88Medium to long, dry, only very mildly smoky, but very woody-dry. Quickly fading fruit notes, some lavender and dried heather.
