La Girafe Chic 1997 MM Mission Gold

The dram didn't do much for me....it had a subtle finish. Where I have tried Margaux finishes before they were really over finished let's say. This one had a subtle finish which made the finish slightly bitter and dry instead of very tart and dry. Complexity: 86 Intensity: 86 Price quality, maybe it's because I expected more from this 25 year old whisky. Maybe my smell and taste were not on point? I found it simple and therefore also quite expensive for the quality you get in your glass.

Today for the third time in the glass. Teaspooned Glenmorangie, aged 25 years, of which 22 1/2 in ex-Bourbon and 2 1/2 in ex-Margaux, I assume region, not Chateau Margaux, never mind, 51.5%. Nose: Jaffa Cake, strawberry yogurt, vanilla, daisy. Horny fruity, floral dream nose. Not in full force, but elegant and composed for her age. Mouth: First strawberry cream candies (Campino)/Ed von Schleck, coconut, cream, pineapple -> Piña Colada, extremely creamy, mouth-filling, the wine comes through, then spice, cloves, the wood punches through, but still sweet and soft on the finish drying, long finish. Conclusion: great stuff. Even after trying it three times, I don't dare to give a definitive verdict. The whiskey needs time and air. Enjoy a calibration whiskey beforehand. He needs attention. Alcohol strength is right, but a few drops are good and bring out the creaminess even more. Currently 91 points. To be added for ~200€ in the current price structure. I bought a bottle and I definitely don't regret it.

Wine maturation continues to feel like a gamble, but Murray McDavid have been doing it for so long now, they must've gotten quite proficient at it.

Latituder describes it very aptly. This is consistent with my experience. For me, a little more wood comes through, but in a positive way. Very elegant and shows its age. Very nice bottling. 86-90 – Wow, really good one, needs a bottle

This is a whiskey where the wine barrel has a lot to say. With a distillate that is quite delicate, like Glenmorangie's, this could go wrong. But that is not the case here, the wine barrel is surprisingly so delicate in its variety of aromas that the gracefully aged spirit still shines through. I like it best on the nose. A flattering taste in the mouth, but it lacks the depth that one would expect in the nose. Delicious whiskey, sweet and drinkable without seeming artificial. 89+ pts.

Westport=Glenmorangie Teaspooned

I immediately get a slight note on the nose that I classify as sulphur. But it is actually still bearable and leaves room for other aromas. These are fruity and the wine barrel finish cannot be hidden. Overall, it reminds me of the smell when you put your nose in a bag of gummy bears. The taste still has a slight sulphur, but that is actually manageable. Otherwise, I'll stick with the gummy bears here. It's a bit like stuffing a whole handful of colorful selections into your mouth. A little oak comes into play in the medium-long finish. The bottling is not overly complex, but well-ripened and quite tasty despite the slight sulphur note.
