Резко отрицательные отзывы: жёсткий, алкогольный, горький, вяжущий и кислый; «completely off, hot and stale»; «liquid wood with slight scorch marks». Оценки расходятся от 29 и 64 до 86; часть считает виски удачным для 3 лет, часть — плоским и неинтересным.

Good and promising young malt. Quite malty, sweet and pleasant whisky. Mouthfill is good but the finish is a little bit short and weak. Let´s see how this develops in some years.
I like the hay-like, honeyed character on the nose. It's welcoming, with furthermore apple and dried fruit, new wood, a bit of vanilla and a little green grassiness. Still it feels rather young, and light. Promising, let's see how the standard expression will be in ten years from now.
Lindores Abbey, 3 years, 46% alc. Original bottling. Expansion: Bourbon, sherry, wine barrels. Nose: At first it cannot hide its youth, with a little air in the glass it immediately becomes milder. It'll take a few minutes. Then you get pleasant fruit aromas, some not yet fully ripe peaches, some pears and slightly tart apples. The fruit is integrated in fudge with a vanilla aroma and a hint of malt. Palate: Stronger than the nose suggested, much stronger, alcoholic. The tart apple is increasing, citrus fruits, malt and vanilla, I can also taste bitter caramel. Removes a nut aroma. Finish: Warm, medium to long, very dry. Conclusion: As the first freely available bottling from the distillery, this single malt definitely doesn't need to hide. Youthful and fresh. It has its line from mildly fruity to strong to very dry. We will see where the journey goes in the years to come. There is definitely potential. 80/100 points (2021) - www.notesofmalt.com
The streaks on the edge of the glass let you look forward to the first sip. Really tough and thick, it runs down the glass wall. Nose: fruity notes of sour apples and not yet ripe pears and bananas dominate. Behind it nice notes of nuts and biscuits. As with the 1494, the yeasty smell is also present here, but by no means annoying. On the contrary, it harmonizes wonderfully with the fruit notes. A hint of vanilla comes up. The alcohol tingles your nose a little and of course you can tell it is a certain youth. Taste: Hui ... he starts really strong. I definitely wouldn't have expected that. Wild and boisterous with a little banana, pear and apple. Then the spices come and really tingle on the tongue. The Wine Barrels did a great job here. The youth can also be clearly recognized here. Still an oily and nice mouthfeel. Finish: A lot of spices and a nice note of caramel and toffee. For the still young age it lasts a surprisingly long time. Conclusion: Of course you can tell that he is young and has a certain immaturity. Unlike other and equally new distilleries, it cannot hide this behind any smoke. In my opinion, he doesn't have to either. It's going in exactly the right direction here. Very good quality work. When I look a few years into the future, it brings a little grin on my face. Let a little more time pass and this paired with good quality barrels, you can definitely look forward to it.
Sweetness is superficially there. The combination of bourbon, sherry and wine barrels seems successful, but cannot hide the sharpness of the still young single malt. Standing for a longer time and letting it breathe softens the sharpness, as well as adding 3 ml. water to 2 cl. whisky make it more enjoyable ...

A young whisky. Should try this when it is 12yo or older. It has potential, but this is just too young.

| Нос | 82 | Sweet, grassy, herbal, marzipan. A clearly young and distillate driven whisky. |
| Вкус | 78 | Simple. Sweet, some of the wood influence, not much. Some grassy and malty notes. Again a clearly young whisky. Some citrus, but not much to write about. |
| Финиш | 78 | Short-medium length. Malt notes, little restless, bit harsh from the alcohol. |
Very young. Great potential for the future. The nose is the best.
To young with a nice amount of off-notes.
Conclusion after a blind tasting: First thought of a Stauning with Rye portion. But he's not mean enough for that. Is it really a Scot? Can't think of much. Perhaps a young whisky from a relatively new distillery.

| Нос | 76 | Funny touch right at the beginning. Slightly musty, grainy, vanilla cream, green apple, blueberry. |
| Вкус | 84 | The green apple becomes dominant, fresh grass and citrus fruits join them. Light fruity notes push through. Bourbon casks with a Calvados finish would be quite appropriate, but the finish would actually be rather unusual. |
| Финиш | 80 | Relatively short, everything takes place on the palate. The citrus fruits linger longer and leave a slight acidity. |

Lindores has history with it, but that does not automatically mean that a top whisky has been bottled. They have yet to come, I'm afraid. The commemorative first release will of course be a must-have in the near future.

Almost formed whisky, a good blend, but so far something is missing, just a couple of strokes. The tree is not yet felt. 19 20 19 19
Ordinary 3 year old. This is a nice, typical Lowland distillate that simply needs something, maybe 3 to 5 years more is enough. I will watch it.
Excellent result for 3 years aging. It is also captivating that this sample does not contain phenols for smoothing out young alcohols. Overall, the whisky makes a good impression. There is no sense of incompleteness.
Here we go: my first Lindores.

You can feel the youth of the distillate and the multitude of barrels used here will not hide it and give it a full, round bouquet of flavor. It is flat, without panache. Nevertheless, you can find some honey, citrus and freshness here. Edit 03/06/2022 However, she's done with Coke, no pleasure in drinking it solo.

| Нос | 83 | The nose is slightly bitter, hoppy, with some citrus, a touch of red fruit, some alcohol. After the cup wakes up, the red fruit flavor is a little more, sweet, and a little more creamy. |
| Вкус | 83 | The entrance is slightly bitter, some cream, a touch of fresh fruit, papaya. Full of spice, cinnamon, star anise, pepper. The end is bitter, like an IPA. In the middle of the wine, there is a little alcohol and a general oily feel. |
| Финиш | 82 | Like the bitterness of hops, the rich spice, the bitterness lasts for a long time, and the sweetness of some red fruits slowly emerges. |

| Вкус | 84 | A bit like the nose. Lemon, apple and melon. Sweet notes of vanilla, honey and a little hint of chocolate. Hay complemented by grass. At the end notes of ginger and oak. |

Quick hit review. I didn't get off to a good start with Lindores Abbey in 2023 (WB221395), but three years later, it is time to give it a second chance. On the nose, I'm getting citrus fruits, prunes and eucalyptus, and there are a few floral notes in the back. The arrival is slightly effervescent with lemon drops, ginger and a touch of dry oak. Hints of ripe strawberries confirm that we have wine casks in the mix. Marmalade, sweet grapes and mild spices fade in the short to medium finish. This is much better than my first impression in 2023, and it goes to show that young distilleries simply need some time to get things right. An enjoyable single malt! | Нос | 83 | Fresh fruit. Floral and plant notes. Light aromas. Delicate flowers. I don't smell alcohol. A minimum thread of cinnamon. |
| Вкус | 81 | Delicate aromas. Slightly sweet. Lots of vanilla. Delicate perfume notes. Flowers. A bit of oak in the background, but more sweet. Spices. |
| Финиш | 80 | Pretty sweet. Lots of vanilla. Traces of sweet wood. Slight bitterness later. Medium-length finish. A little spice for the second sip. |
Quite promising given the young age. On the palate it is still very rough and alcoholic, but I still very much welcome the decision to bottle it at 46%. It will certainly be very worthwhile to try a Lindores every few years.

New distilleries releasing young whisky. Something I’m normally let go. But sometimes I’m interested. In this case I’m part of a cask plan of this distillery so I’d like to learn something about it’s potential.
Youth with promise. Fresh fruits, vanilla, toffee ans some young maltiness.

(12) Youthful, apple sauce, some spice, sour fruits. (13) This bottle has been used as a case study to compare against other sub-10 year old Scotch and Irish whiskies. Particularly sub-5 year olds. This has come out worse than every whisky I've compared it too, with the exception of Ballykeefe Irish Whisky. This is the danger of a new distillery putting out a product too soon. They have lost me as a potential customer of a future product. If this is older than 3 years old, I'd be surprised. (14) Tasting the second to last pour of this bottle tonight along with Glenglassaugh Sandend and this is very inferior to the Glenglassaugh, even though I think that bottling is perhaps 6-7 years old. (15) I do not like this whisky. Why was it bottled so young? It is harsh, alcoholic, bitter, astringent, sour and unfortunately those characteristics dominate the soft fruity notes that are present in the background. From this bottling, it's really difficult to predict whether the whisky will be good or not at an older age. Sadly, I don't have an interest not in following that journey...there are just too many good whiskies on the market that are far superior to Lindores Abbey.
Meh.

Lindores Abbey proudly refers to the year 1494 and the first documented production of aqua vitae in the historic monastery of Lindores Abbey. But the distillery is young and that is also this first whisky, which can be just three years old, but was also stored in three types of casks. So the color is at least light golden. And the presentation in an individual bottle is very valuable. Just have to taste the whisky ... www.glen-efze.de

https://whiskylovingpianist.wordpress.com/2022/02/14/lindores-abbey-singles-night/ N: A savoury [bitter-] sweet nose that is unlikely to offend, and more likely win you round. Whilst the character of the ‘make’ is still maintained, those mandatory three years of maturation have added a complimentary dressing to proceedings. Namely: [green-ish] fruity banana-bread, a citrusy beer-like character, a touch bready-floury [though slightly less bloomer-like than the inaugural release: WLP82],… hints of minerallic calvados. Importantly, Lindores have found a way of utilising STR without ending up in a generic STR cul-de-sac. T: With a slightly greasy floral confectionary-creamy [foam] banana > honeyed vanilla sweetness, a peppered waxy-ish huskiness, and something of an Adnams-like ‘mild’ beer arrival and subsequent travel, I find this on the right side of the sharp/pokey citric~spicy line also. F: With a decent length form throughout, we’ve yet more of that savoury = bitter~sweet dry-yet succulent creamy banana/vanilla [mild] beer-like spirit faithfulness, slightly floury & bloomer-like again at the tail. Is there much difference from the inaugural release? Swings & roundabouts. C: Presented to please without pandering, a bottle didn’t last long.
This is a young whisky and it shouldn't be punished for being so, try and find it's strengths and compare it with other young whiskies and score accordingly. Plus you have to ask yourself did you enjoy it? For me the answer is yes and that's what counts. It will be interesting to see what they come up with in the future, a good price and a nice looking bottle, very art deco.

| Нос | 83 | A light and fruity nose and I'm talking about citrus fruits mainly. Yes it smells young but that is to be expected. Honey with a slight tickle on the nostrils. The wine influence is the most prominent to me. There are some sherry notes but they are quite distant. Overall it hangs together well. |
| Вкус | 86 | Lets applaud the 46% so they are off to a good start. Those citrus fruits you get on the nose are all here and with added spice it gives it some zest. Yes it's young and there is nothing wrong with that, it's light and refreshing and you can taste the bourbon influence, something I didn't get on the nose. I can't find any off notes here. |
| Финиш | 86 | The finish is just a continuation and there is no decline, everything just fades nicely and that zesty fruit right to the death. |
Thanks to karloff for my first Lindores. It's not been available locally yet and I don't have FOMO on new distilleries. This has definitely not scared me off any future bottlings I may come across.

| Нос | 84 | Sweet and fruity. Apple juice with honey sweetness. Riesling white wine... with a hint of yeast, not unpleasant though. A crispy nuttyness underneath it all. Citrus emerging with time, this as well on a sweet note. I like this nose! |
| Вкус | 85 | Citrus was the last I detected on the nose, on the palate it is very forward and the first I would write down. The 46% gives it a spicy kick that was not noticeable on the nose. The spice is actually a little bourbon like. Thick almost oily texture make the flavours stick longer. |
| Финиш | 86 | This is upward travel all the way into a finish I would call well into a medium length. Sweet, spicy, zesty citrus. |
A young malt, with some obvious edges but already an interesting profile. Not as light in taste as one could expect from a Lowlander, introduced by a nearly musty nose (probably influenced by the wine casks), soon opening up in a rich palate with citrus, green apple and overall spicy notes. Most surprising is the lingering, medium length finish, full of spicy and slightly zesty flavours. An interesting approach for a new distillery, leaving much curiosity of how this malt would develop after a proper maturation of a few more years.

40.000 Last summer the long-awaited first release of this new Lowland distillery appeared (at least the one that was made available to the general public). I confess that I don't really know what the difference is with this release that appeared at the same time under the name 'Lindores Abbey Single Malt Scotch MCDXCIV', because the composition is the same, the alcohol percentage is the same... Let's put them H2H. On the nose it is very similar: sweet and sweet. Granny Smith apples in the pan, hazelnuts and kiwi. This is slightly less sweet but it also smells a little more like yeast without disturbing. Nice and oily, sweet and candy-like just like his brother. Very fruity on banana, pear, apple and some spiciness thanks to the wine barrel in the mix. Caramel and toffee also appear here. This is also tasty, but it just doesn't reach the level of the Commemorative First Release. Pour in another spoonful of brown sugar and we have identical twins. But that sugar is missing here. Rather short, sweet and softly spicy finish. It still has a way to go, but the potential isclear. The only difference I can detect is... the label (and the number of bottles, of course, of these 40,000 have been released). Apart from that, they are, in my opinion, almost identical whiskies. Well, not quite, but close enough. This one is a little less round, a little less sweet. But since they're both very friendly priced, it doesn't bother me that they're so similar. They even get the same score.

Lindores Abbey MCDXCIV, SMSW, 46%. 30ml sample at home, June 2024. Pale to mid-tone yellow. Aroma is grassy, over-fried dough, becoming more white wine like, hints of elderflower but with the stems and leaves all mulched in, dirty bathroom tiles. Nope, not a great aroma by any means. Given time it neutralises a bit, but by then the impressions have already been set. Body is soft, rounded, lightly oily. Good body. Taste, again, is a mixed bag. There’s an almost asafoetida or onion note to start, but that’s gone by the second sip. The distillate itself is beautiful – soft with no alcoholic sting, subtle esters. I love those subtle little flavour notes that take you in this direction and that – the faint wood, the light elderflower, the soft mixed fruits and petals. And yet some of the stronger notes coming through are a little ‘off’. My impression is that some of the casks aren’t helping it. I thought the first release of this whisky was absolutely fantastic, which is why I picked up this sample. I can see signs here of why I had liked it so much. However, sadly it seems the consistency isn’t quite there yet. This is perhaps a few dodgy casks away from being another stonking release from Lindores Abbey, but it is what it is. This experience hasn’t killed my interest - because those subtle spirit flavours are really exciting for me - but it has killed some of my admiration. I’ll continue my interest in this distillery, but with some caution. 3.35/80

Actually a delicious distillate, but too young to be able to score any more points here. If you consider that not only bourbon but also sherry and wine barrels were used here, this bottling is even rather disappointing. It is too sharp and angular in the finish for me, which is why I cannot understand that sometimes 86 points are awarded here. Nevertheless, I look forward to bottlings with a higher age or more barrel influence in the future.

Not bad for a young malt! Very complex nose, but that doesn't really follow through on the palate and finish. The flavours are nice, but it ultimately needs some more time. This seems like a more interesting distillate than many of the other inaugural releases I’ve tried recently.
Lindores An interesting, rare bridge in our area. Young, so be lenient. On the nose there are ripe fruits, red apples, fruit gum, wild flowers, and over time it fades into bread fermentation. It tastes biting, pinches a little - young and daring. Fruity, I would even say perfumed. Overall a very pleasant, fruity malt. Perhaps he lacks age, he is hot and cursory, but he has an interesting profile, he is bright and rich.

Lindores Abbey plays an important role in the history of Scotch whisky: the earliest written mention of whisky (or Aqua Vitae) dates from 1494, in the Exchequer Roll of the same year. Brother John Cor, a Lindores monk, was commissioned by King James IV to produce Aqua Vitae from malt. Today, 500 years later, whisky is again being produced directly opposite Lindores Abbey. The Lowlander partly matures in wine and sherry casks.

No blow, party, boost....or whatever. Just nice, not exciting. Nice,.....just.....
Instead of a youthful bully with rough edges and wrong notes, here is a smooth and fresh malt, which only appears somewhat random and unsustainable due to its unspectacular finish. The bottlings from this distillery could become very interesting as they get older.
The nose is quite good now, but the palate and finish are held back by the wine slightly in my opinion. Citrus, acacia honey, malty, vanilla, nutty on the palate and finish. Not too bad.

| Нос | 84 | Citrus, vanilla, subtle parma violets, acacia honey, quite malty, little spicy and grassy. The wine and sherry are apparent but they're relatively subdued and well-integrated now. |
| Вкус | 82 | Acacia honey, vanilla, citrus, a bit more wine now, some berries, nutty oloroso, new wood. |
| Финиш | 83 | Wine, basic sherry, vanilla, acacia honey, citrus, nutty, a bit malty. Not bad really. |

Completely off, hot and stale. One of the worst inaugural’s.
Sorry, but if you give the young "vegetable" more than 80 points, you don't know how such whisky smells and checks! Please stay on the ground with the reality with the reviews ... It will certainly get better with age, but now it's just liquid wood with slight scorch marks

Lots of promise, but no clear DNA yet - although hats off for producing a huge release that is actually being drunk.

| Нос | 82 | Aromatic, but hard to pick any main aromas - like trying to nail jelly to the wall. |
| Вкус | 79 | A number of flavours all competing - some sweetness, red fruits, but then a sour note comes in - like sour watermelon sweets. |
| Финиш | 80 | Sour at the death. |
Partly promising, partly botched. I'd be happy to take it again as a 10 or 12 year old version, but please without the wine barrels. For the full review, go here: https://halbendrinks.de/2022/10/02/newcomer-a/

A delicious malt from a young lowland distillery. There is not much to feel of the youth and drinks great, vanilla and light fruits

I'm always happy to try a whisky from a distillery I haven't yet had the chance to sample. With this relatively young distillery, my first impression is that it would certainly be worthwhile to try another bottling later. However, based on this particular bottling, it's not a whisky I currently need.

| Нос | 82 | The nose offers subtle tart pear aromas; otherwise, the whisky is rather flat, probably also due to its alcohol content. |
| Вкус | 81 | Unfortunately, the bitter note is clearly dominant in the taste. The influence of the wine casks is almost imperceptible, resulting in a very one-dimensional flavor profile. |
| Финиш | 81 | Nothing really worth mentioning, not bad, but uninteresting. Short finish with bitter notes that initially hint at a touch of sweetness. |
WLW 01.10.2021 I was stunned by the quality and balance of this young whisky, even though it is mostly one dimensional with a cask driven character it has a massive potential and the future is looking bright for them *knock on wood*. Had a great chat with Mr. Drew Mackenzie Smith at the WLW.

I hope they opt for primarily bourbon cask maturation in future... the distillate has potential, but maybe not with these modern cask messes. Despite my criticality, this is mostly nice, it could just be better.

| Нос | 82 | Very youthful. Some wine - wine influence is very hit or miss with me, and usually a miss. Malt, citrus, grass, honey, vanilla. Some spice and sherry. |
| Вкус | 83 | Not bad - lemon, lime, honey-covered shredded wheat, rich berries. |
| Финиш | 82 | Lime, wine, some simple sweet sherry influence, honey. |

Nose, cream pudding, fondant, advocat, vanilla liqueur, honey, toffee, flowery, not too complex but pleasant. Taste, biscuits, caramel, roasted almonds, brown sugar, iced coffee, malt, just like the smell, uncomplicated whisky. Finish, quite short, pleasantly bitter, caramel, slightly warming. Average whisky - neither warms nor cools.
Very good for only 3 years.

| Нос | 82 | Very gentle and fruity. Caramel, vanilla, malt, candied red apples, cooked pears and grapes. No alcoholic smell. |
| Вкус | 83 | Sweet, very similar to the nose with caramel, vanilla, malt, candied red apples and grapes, but it delivers surprisingly much old oak. |
| Финиш | 82 | Dry with a medium length. It starts with old oak and then becomes gentler and sweeter with red apples and grapes. Not very differentiated. |
