В отзывах последовательно звучит тема молодости и незрелости: виски описывают как «слишком молодой», «острый», «незрелый», с плохо интегрированным алкоголем, а в ряде случаев — с серными, дрожжевыми, кисло-горькими и «пластиковыми» нотами. Некоторые прямо называют его дисгармоничным и разочаровывающим, отмечают чрезмерную горечь и кислотность, а также искусственно звучащие ноты шери. При этом другие находят характер приятным и интересным: подчёркивают пряность (имбирь, корица, гвоздика, «спекулос», пряничные мотивы), сухофрукты (изюм, финики, фиги), орехи, шоколад, ваниль, цитрус и длинный для своего возраста финиш; отдельно отмечается, что виски не перегружен шери, но требует времени и, по ряду мнений, воды, чтобы раскрыться и смягчить молодость. Есть и расхождения по поводу шери и дуба: одни считают влияние вина/шери сильным, другие — что шери ощущается искусственным и плохо интегрированным, а дубовая пряность и горечь преобладают над сладостью. Несколько отзывов прямо указывают, что релиз «разделяет мнения», и предупреждают о чувствительности к серным нотам. Общий тон текстов — это поляризованные впечатления о молодом, пряном, шери-выдержанном виски с грубоватым характером, а не единодушная похвала или хула.

Red fruits, almonds, porridge, cinnamon and a light hint of sulphur. A really nice Highland whisky, rich and full of character. It needed some time in the bottle to really open up. Half way now, yes it’s young and spirit forward but for me in a nice way. Still some funk and spice but I like it, I think it’s more personal preference then that it’s a bad whisky.

Immediately the first off-note is that of freshly opened grain, plastic, rubber tires, perhaps even blue cheese, unpleasant, spirity, seeming far too young, like new make, then unfortunately also sherry cask aromas that seem artificial and not well integrated. Uneven, disharmonious, too young, too sharp, with off-notes. Disappointing. Too much bitterness and acidity, like unripe tartaric acid, red tartaric acid-based vinegar essence, something distinctly artificial in taste like modeling clay, with rubbery residue, unbalanced, too young, unripe, disharmonious, alcohol poorly integrated. Sherry seems artificial A short to medium-long finish, with even more of this drastic, acid-emphasized bitterness, unpleasant. Conclusion: Huge disappointment, bad distillate, bad casks, poorly matured with off-notes. Completely unnecessary and definitely not a purchase candidate. How can anyone fill such garbage... That's certainly not a candidate for a representative birthday bottling... Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Too young, too sharp, unbalanced. The alcohol is poorly integrated, which is unsurprising given its ABV and age. It needs another three years in the barrel. It's not enjoyable in its current state.

Edradour is a small farm distillery with a unique charm, featuring small, squat stills housed in old farm buildings. This distinctive whisky is characterized by its rough, somewhat impure – yet unique – character, achieved through the setting of the stills, the open cast-iron mash tun, and the worm tubs. In 2018, Andrew Symington built an exact replica of the original distillery in a hall on the other side of the small Edradour Burn. Edradour No. 2 is intended to increase capacity and meet rising demand. This is where the unpeated Edradour whiskies will likely be produced, while the peated Ballechin will continue to be distilled in the original building. To celebrate Edradour's 200th anniversary, an inaugural release of Edradour No. 2 has now been published. This is not an official bottling, but rather a release from Signatory Vintage, aged seven years and – true to Signatory's style – matured in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. The whisky is bottled at 100 proof and will still be available in many shops for under €50 in the summer of 2026. glen-efze.de

I'm not entirely sure if this is meant to be the future style of Plant 2. You can recognize Edradour, but there are clearly different notes. I think we'll have to wait and see which direction it's going in...

Вкус86Dark dates and figs, vanilla, a peppery heat, and a good amount of wood. It can't quite hide its youth; slight metallic notes come through. Chocolate—do I detect a hint of cinnamon? Perhaps a splash of water would do it good.

Not sure how this young and unmature whisky can score 86 or 87 points. When the nose is still in the okay area, the taste is unbalanced and screams about youth. Sulphuric, sour and yeasty notes just turn my head away from this release. And this one has been chosen to celebrate Edradour 200th anniversary? 10yo 46% is a much, much better option

Вкус76unpleasant yeasty and unmature notes make the impression that the whisky is simply not ready. Light sweetness, chili, grassy.
Финиш78mid-long, to its defence the whisky gets slightly better in the aftertaste. However still nothing special, mostly astringent oak and wine sourness.

Нос83Cinnamon, vanilla and some nuts. Raisins, dates and quite spicy. A little like fruitcake. Cocoa and some notes of chocolate..after a while quite prominent notes of fruity esters, especially something like banana.
Вкус84A lot of spices, more cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Very powerful. Then dried fruits, raisins, dates and hints of candied oranges.
Финиш82Rather medium with a quite nice sweetness, again a lot of spices, a little dried fruits and berries.

The nose is still acceptable in a way but the taste is just awful - bitter, astringent, just really not nice. Not sure what they were thinking bottling this, and to celebrate the 200th anniversary of your distillery? Somebody must've played a terrible joke here.

Gingerbread, cacao powder, milk chocolate, dried dates, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg. And all that very very loud. It screams those flavors and for me it's just a bit too much. There is also too much sweetness going on for me. Not really balanced in my opinion.

Interesting aroma and well-crafted despite its young age. For me, these aren't flaws; the alcohol content does betray its youth, yet it still tastes older. A positive aspect is that it's not overpowered by sherry. Depending on the day, you can add water to mask its youth and further enhance the aromas. A whisky off the beaten track - March 13, 2026

Нос86The first note could be described as a flaw, but if you give it time, it fades and becomes warm bread dough, followed by spicy and fruity notes: bergamot, warm apple sprinkled with cinnamon, wet wood, roasted malt – the spice clearly takes center stage here.

Вкус86Caramel, lots of oak spice, cinnamon, lots of cinnamon :D and a little youthful spiciness. In my opinion, it needs water; then a nice Scotch-like texture forms, the oak spice recedes a little, the spiciness diminishes, and the mouthfeel becomes oilier. Completely different from a Caledonia 12; less creamy, less sherry, the oak spice and cinnamon are significantly stronger than the sweetness. As someone else so aptly pointed out below, it's reminiscent of speculoos. One point deduction because it's not as creamy as I expected, and because of the youthful sharpness that is present.
Финиш89Fruity, berry-like, cinnamony, sweet – and long, very long for its age. I like it extremely well.

It's a sherry-matured malt, yes... quite drinkable, but not one I need a whole bottle of. Overall, it's a bit underripe, and the cask has the modern feel of conditioned sherry casks. It's not due to age. Between 2010 and 2014, Adelphi released a whole series of quite young (6 to 8 years old) Glenrothes. That was a completely different quality. And they didn't use sherry casks like they did 30-40 years ago. I wonder if this is great advertising for Edradour 2...
